But Deco was amazing in both the C.L. and UEFA Cup finals. I think that should be considered huge bonus points.
He wasn't that great at Euro 2004 and the UEFA Cup final doesn't count for his achievements from last season

Perhaps the reason Totti isnt on the list is because they dont really want to glorify spitting on your opponents.... I mean think of it for a second; Totti spitting on the Danish dude and winning as player of the year. It sort of makes a joke out of the whole award(although I agree the whole award has already make a mochery of itself as is). That said, if we were unbiased and only viewed players' performance, than Totti should be on that list, but then again, many would have to be dropped and exchanged.

Hmmm, if Zambro had been on the list I would have definetely voted for him up there with Sheva and Henry. But I agree with everyone else that says the top three would be Sheva, Henry and Ronaldinho.

Id say that Henry will win, although Im rooting for Sheva(but that's because he plays for Milan)

Fifa World Player of the Year Award? What be that?

Oh, you mean the history-less plastic prize created by Sepp Blatter Corleone to secure Zambia or Qatar's votes for his re-election?

The one where the North Korean Federation picks Rivaldo and What's-his-face as best players of the year?

Umm, yeah that's one award that should be taken very seriously..
Yeah.. that award...

I had a good laugh reading the national team coaches' respective votes. To think that one even voted for Inzaghi as the best player in the world.

I think for the European footballer of the year, it normally is someone who either won the big one that year which is the European championship or the Champions league, that wins it , but not so sure on the World player of the year.

With that in mind then, then no Greek player should have been nominated, they should however in the European player of the year award, as should Rooney, Baros and a few others

Of those on this list these players should be scrapped and should never have been nominated in the first place

Nedved did absolute sweet F.A. all of last season and only got back some semblance of form at the Euros

Raul has been absolutely awful for a long time now

Figo did very little all year

Owen enough said

I cannot understand why every time Ronaldo is nominated it causes an uproar, he scored so many goals last season in La liga and it was while he was injured that Real completely lost their way

Drogba scored a huge loads of goals in France and also the UEFA cup and still ppl question his inclusion

Its a disgrace that Totti was nominated as well as Vicente of Spain

Zambrotta was also criminally neglected while they chose to nominate Buffon

Who cares who wins it any more as it now becoming more like the oscars

exactly like the oscars. The same old boring serious films always win.

Cassano should win. Comedian. He always gives a performance when gets subbed

Well theres no other player in my mind who deserves it more. :undecide: The winner of this award must help guide his team to a great championship, which in this case was the C.L.

IMO,it should be either Ronaldinho or Sheva, its plain dumbness to put players like Zagorakis,Giggs,Owen and Kahn, instead of Reyes,Vieira and especially Totti:groan:,so i agree with the post above its not an award to take seriously.
Reyes and Vieira were not that great either. But Owen to be on this list is ridiculous, complete farce.

Denco, you are alive.

Maybe you can help me with this game which I have been unsuccessfully trying to introduce to the members of this forum :

http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~grahambae/Figurine Panini.xls

I have so far found 170 of the 200 players proposed.

I still miss the following numbers : 5, 7, 19, 24, 33, 43, 57, 58, 70, 72, 83, 86, 95, 105, 117, 121, 124, 127, 145, 146, 148, 161, 170, 172, 181, 183, 185, 187, 188, 199.

Thanks in advance.

no R. Baraja, Vincente, Torres, Okocha, Zambro and the lsit goes on...
and no players who play outside of Europe?

For me the only deserved candidate is Ronaldinho for the beautiful football he has consistently played in his first season in La Liga, for the great goals (there are many) and the even greater number of assists. He ispired the late resurgance of a great club to tople Real Madrid and he is a great symbol of everything FIFA is suppose to satnd for.

Runner up should be Henry. After the frenchmen and the brazilian their are no others on the same par

This world player of the year are a ****ing joke, were is Zambrotta?, and they should give it to Maldini so that they make up for the fact that he should have got i years ago, but hell no its probably gonna be Zidane, Ronaldo and Henry as usual. Im sure those three will win it until they retire no matter how bad they are.
