Balon d'or used to be an excellent award that did not say what player had the highest potential, but who actually played the best (like neved winning when zidane/ronaldo/rivaldo/figo still played)

Nowadays its a popularity quiz. Ronaldo and Messi can be shit but still get votes from the fanboys. Furthermore, alot of the voters have no global image of the individual performance. 50% Doesnt know who Barzagli is and think Chiellini is better.

I expect Messi to win another few, as soon as he performes half decent.
