people are forgetting the most important factor

it's not his lack of match fitness or going a year without playing.

it's him being spanish. i think thats the reason we are seeing low confidence

:agree:

Like a Lion that's spent its life behind bars, being given the freedom it deserves it feels confused and bewildered by the great savanna (in this case represented by Serie A)

He was lost, but IMO , apart from his matchfitness, he lacks confidence!!. Still we ned to remember tht he is a great player and im pretty sure he will bounce back as the preseason goes on!!!.

Watching him live and away from the TV cameras most of the time, he looked:
1. Too unselfish -- too quick to pass or deflect the ball away instead of taking control of it for any length of time
2. Too slow

#1 isn't that bad of a thing, especially for the new guy on the team. The #2 is what I am worried about -- he easily got beat to balls by Everton defenders that came from behind him. Maybe that's where some match fitness is needed.

Yep. Winning those World Cups definitely throws your confidence out the window.

Lets not forget, he's main strenght is beeing an athletic strong technical targetman.

And the epl is THE league where they have stronger, more athletic defenders then anywere else, against him.

He wont have this problem in italy or spain. and when he hits form, he wont have it in epl eighter
