Trezeguet was slow. A lot of great strikers are slow. Good positioning and finishing coupled with great aerial ability is what we really need.

Llorente is hungry for success, he wants trophies. Perfect for us IMO. And please enough with the "He's spanish, won't succeed in Serie A" BS.

Exactly. To be this consistent with a team like Athletic Bilbao over the years is quite an achievement really.

Llorente is a quality bargain.
Take a look at Aduriz's numbers this season

same goals as Falcado (except for the penalties)

Llorente misses a lot and takes ages for him to get in scoring shape.

Besides Atheltic had no other striker and no need to fight or compete for being in the starting team. He won't have as much minutes in any top level team as he had in Athletic. He won't improve those numbers.

I've seen Llorente play plenty of times and this is my take on him.

He'll be a very good signing for this team, the salary that is required is maybe high but you gain on the transfer fee because his contract is soon ending, that's a plus.
He's a very good goal scorer, incredible with his head, he'll come handfull because he's accustomed to playing with back to the goal and his good at it. He's quite technical despite his frame, can cantrol the ball and pass with both feet and play those one touch passes that we all hope Matri would've been able to play. His movemenet off the ball isn't as good as Matri because he always plays with his back to the goal and only start running toward the goals when the ball is at the wings.
He's not the top player we all hope we sign, the one who could receive the ball at the top of the box and produce magic like Zlatan, Aguero, Benzema or Falcao but he's a good goal scorer and we desperately need that.
My last point is that i think that Llorente would work better in a 4-3-3.
Said by a person who actually have seen him play with Athletic. Unlike so many in here. Who takes notes from his youtube videos. No offense.

Might have been lower if his contract wasn't expiring.
I'm very well aware of that, but that doesn't change how I feel about it.

However, I'll admit that I don't know Llorente that well. In the end, he may be the player that takes us to the next level. He just not enough of a "sure thing" (no such players, I know) for me to give him the team's biggest contract just like that. (Assuming the announced pay cut for Buffon goes through.)

The closest players to a "sure thing" are the likes of Cavani, Falcao, Higuain, and Benzema and they are beyond our reach. I'd really like Suarez or Jovetic, but I don't see that happening either.

'Llorente prefers English switch’

Juventus target Fernando Llorente is reportedly more interested in a transfer to England rather than Italy.

The striker is set to leave present side Athletic Bilbao on a free in the summer once his contract expires in June 2013.

Juve have been tracking the 27-year-old since last summer, but a report in Marca claims that the centre-forward believes his characteristics are better suited to the Premier League.

The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with the Spanish international who is free to talk to other clubs from January 1.

Sorry, if it's a repost.

Read the article in Italian and they didn't mention he wanted a move there but he'd fit more over there.

Thats my thoughts too. He will also work in a 352 but im pretty sure that in the 433 he will get a lot of assists and just concentrate on scoring... instead of tracking back and holding the ball more often in the 352.

And yeah 5 millions for him is lie too much... they should offer him less omney but with option of bonusses.

not sure if he is really better in 4-3-3, because considering vucinic playstyle, he would be equally good in 3-5-2

However, with Llorente, playing 4-3-3 would become much much better then it is now with matri and benny beeing very bad and quag preferred in a 3-5-2

The 433 is a good formation that i would love to see us adoptiing as our other alternative when the 352 is not cutting it. But right now the 433 is incomplete. Until we get a real bomber... we lack that one piece upfront to complete it.
