Has Marotta written all over it, he won't resist this, but I'm still not convinced someone else won't offer big wages for such a player on a free.

Whether you pay €25m and €12m over 4 years in wages or no transfer fee and €24m over 4 years in wages plus a couple of million in signing on bonuses it still works out cheaper this way to purchase the player.
It does, but putting an unproven player on such wages may cause unrest within the squad. Heck, there are even Juve players now, who deserve more than Llorente based purely on skill and experience.

That said... it does seem very likely that he's gonna join us, I must admit. I just hope it's for the reported 3.5 million in wages.

I meant for the potential other teams who may be interested more than Juventus, to be honest. Although it would obviously apply to us, I don't see big wages as part of our model.

First of all, I'd take a low-cost Llorente.

But here are my concerns:

Llorente is average at best when it comes to finishing with his feet and playing football on the ground. When it comes to headers, he's a beast, I'll admit to that. But Conte doesn't play football in a way which would exploit this great skill of his. We put in few crosses per match, and when we do, most of them don't even reach their intended target. We have no natural crossers in our team, which would hurt Llorente's game.

Still, we're not likely to sign any "top player" any time soon, so if he can come on a bosman (or on the cheap in January), then sign him up. It would constitute a low-risk, and would be worth to try at the very least.

Llorente is better technically than Dzeko thats all you need to know and werent you one of those guys craving for Dzeko along with the obvious one ofc.

He'd fit our style like a glove there's no doubt about that..

Well in my opinion there is a doubt about that, because I doubt our team's ability to utilize his biggest skill, which is heading.

I would be very much against this move (as I have been) for anything above 15 million euros in transfer fees and 4 million euros in wages, but if we can get him for around 6 million in January or for free in June, and preferably for sensible wages, then sign him up, I'm all for it.

Should we spend the money in January or wait till summer and get him free?

I'd say Drogba free now, Llorente free in summer and most of our money goes to a jovetic or Neymar :)

You make it sound that he's all about heading and has no other skill, yeah heading is his main attribute but he has a pretty good ball control for a big guy and doesn't use his weaker leg only for walking.

As for him not suitable for our style, Conte preferred Borriello to others for his ability to play with his back to the goal, at which Llorente is very good.
