No. I don't think we have any intentions to pay 12 million for a LB.

Didn't you say a few days ago, we'll pay 18 million + 4 million in bonuses?

Between Juventus or Spurs or potentially another other big team next year as a free agent where he could demand bigger wages, yeah he would be very stupid.
So now it's between Spurs and Juve and maybe a third club next year

You wrote it would be stupid joining Spurs. Which is nonsense and not well thought thru - at least I hope.

Well, it is not entirely up to Bilbao, I guess. If the player particulary prefers one team, Bilbao will have to settle for a particular transfer fer.
And there's zero evidence that Llorente prefers Juve over anyone.

I get the feeling that even if he joins, no matter how successful he is here, he won't last long. If he performs well he'll end up back in Spain for one of the big two, if average he'll end up in England.

Bilbao is likely to hold out to the end of the transfer window to wait for better offers.
Due to Bilbao's unique signing policy, it's hard to say how it'll play out.

Ordinarily I'd say a team wouldn't want to wait until the very end of the window to sell a key player, because they'll want to give themselves time to sign some sort of a replacement (or generally strengthen their team).

With Bilbao, though, I don't know if that applies.

Will they have a signing earmarked to replace Llorente or will they just promote a young player?

More chance of Bilbao being willing to hold out until near the end of the window than there would be with a more normal team, I'd say.

:agree: about the part that there is no evidence whatsover.

Why would he tell Athletico he wants to change leagues if he wanted to join Real or Barca, surely he should stay there one more year if that's the case.

I can't imagine Barca wanting Llorente in the relatively near future.

Entirely possible Real would look to sign him, though.

Potentially to get some outside experience, and if he does well, come back to one of the big two.

Agreed - not a Barca type player.
