La Reppublica's newspaper claims Juve signed him for 21m. + Marchionni.

Possible, but unfair for us I guess...

To much money...
With that, Sneijder would be a better option.

Melo isn't better skilled offensively than D'Agostino. That's a huge overestimation of the Brazilian and even bigger underestimation of D'Ago.
I believe there is a tendency to underestimate someone's offensive abilities, when he is pretty good at defending, esp if he is a balanced CM.
I believe he can defend and attack based upon the tactical need.
I appreciate such an ability really really much and thats why i believe that Melo can be useful in more situations and various formations.

Dago is rated as a dedicated offensive tool because of his inability to defend successfully. I believe this can be a risk (Almiron/Tiago)

I also trust that Melo had more chances to learn some Brazilian magic, who can unleash at will! Rather than Dago who never really impressed at no particular field.
Good player overall, but just that!
Btw, just to make things PERFECTLY CLEAR....

Felipe Melo was born on 26 July 1983. He will turn 26 in 3 weeks.
D'Agostino was born on 3 June 1982. He turned 27 last month.

So D'Agostino is 1 year, 1 month and 23 days older than Melo.
That was some very useful piece of info Alen!!
In many sites and newspapers it is said that Dago is 28
and Melo is 25. Thats incredible how important this piece of info is!!
Technically they are right (and misleading) due to their b-days, happen to be right these days.
But in reality the difference is indeed nearly insignificant!!

We should give them Poulsen. He is after all a good player and there is a few dannish players in Fiorentina that could make it easier for Poulsen to adapt.

Official: Arsenal in Felipe Melo talks
    Saturday 4 July, 2009
Fiorentina have released an official announcement that they are in negotiations with Arsenal over Felipe Melo and Emmanuel Eboue.

The Viola took the unusual step of declaring the status of talks with the Premier League club, posting the news on their website.

“The director of sport [Pantaleo Corvino] points out that Arsenal FC are the only club who came close to the buy-out clause figure,” read the statement.

“Fiorentina have in turn proposed to Arsenal that they can reduce the cash sum by introducing right-back Eboue into the deal.”

The declaration was effectively to silence reports that Juventus are about to snap up Brazilian international midfielder Melo.

The player’s representatives today stated they “would be happy” for a move to Juve, so Fiorentina transfer guru Corvino slammed on the brakes.

“If the player has already reached an agreement of his own with any other club, the buy-out clause is set at £21m with no other players involved in the exchange unless they are wanted by ACF Fiorentina.”

Meanwhile, Eboue is open to the move towards Florence and admitted as much to the BBC.

"It would be hard but I think it would be harder to experience another season like this one,” said the Ivory Coast international.

"In any case, if I leave Arsenal it would be for another league because it is out of the question that I develop elsewhere in England."

I mean, the guy had more cards than anyone else last year in serie A (12 yellow cards and 3 red cards). He's an amazing DMC, but don't expect playmaking from him. He's tough, he wins a lot of balls, he fouls like crazy and he makes it impossible for the others to pass by him, but he's not a creative player.
Am I the only one who is scared of these stats? Actually scratch scared, make it frightened.
As good a player as he may be, he is exactly the kind of player that will cost you some games during the season.
25 million (or even 21 + Marchionni) is an idiotic price for this player.

But hey, let's get him and curse the coach / board next season for playing with 3 defensive minded midfielders.
