- If we gave him his demanded 10m wages, after seeing what injuries have done to him and after his Euros performance, and he continues to that level and yet is one of our highest earners without the performances on the field matching those wages the club is stupid, how could they extend him for 10m wages? I don't think that's what people have an issue with, but rather the approach. We kept waiting on rabiot and we kept waiting on chiesa. This decisiveness we are showing now we should have shown months ago.

Also there's a trend developing here as far as giuntoli is concerned. He had a rough relationship with allegri, he failed to get mckennie on board with the villa deal, he failed to get Soulé on his side, and he is failing with managing the chiesa situation. I feel as though his style is antagonizing way too many people.

You could argue he has been hold back this last season due to ‘jihadball’ tactics and incompatible formation but what about the rest? He has been injured more often than not, and struggled a lot because of it in each of this last years where he’s been a shadow of the Chiesa you are describing aside from some rare flashes, but we still kept faith in him that he will eventually recover, if anything it’s him that should be accepting our terms and be eager to stay to prove himself in our new project under a new manager, we are the ones that sticked to him when he was at his lowest and he is the one asking for a pay increase or is even willing to leave for free next year when he is fully aware the club is going through a rebuild and struggling with finances.

so that will make it 4 seasons in a row he hasn't had a major superstar status when other players in their twenties are killing it.

he will be 27 turning 28 when he joins inter or other club. 4 years wasted means he will get low balled by every single club after him including inter because what stats does he have to back up his wages? no club will offer him what he wants when he doesn't have stats or superstar status and he had ACL injury.

it's the reason no club is after him now. 25m-30m is nothing for almost all clubs in all top leagues that play with wingers. so why aren't clubs after him? because no one will give him the wage he wants when he can't play a full game without getting tired.

that's a good point unfortunately. sample size is too small though. an overhaul was required, club has no money, if mckennie wants 5m and we can only offer 2.5m then it's not only on the club if the player leaves for free. the allegri and chiesa situations look bad indeed. we'll see how he handles people on the long run

No seriously it can't be a coincidence that stories of Motta not keen on keeping Chiesa was already making the rounds before Motta was even officially appointed.
It can't be a coincidence that not a single big club wants Chiesa, even at a knock off price, these big clubs want players that fit into a disciplined tactical system look at the heat maps of Chiesa last season and how he's always drifting to the left when he's supposed to play a more supportive role to the striker, last season his form was attributed somewhat to his long recovery process, and this is coming from someone who likes Chiesa has his shirt etc... but ive always felt he thrived on basically having a free role and let him play on his own instincts.

Just to add I have mentioned this numerous times when stories of Motta wasn't so keen on keeping Chiesa, prior to Motta's arrival, and not just because it's a "hack job of a post" to make myself cope better with his imminent exit, this is simply me trying to make sense of Motta's thinking.
