He overrated himself, living off one good season with us and a very good euros with Italy. But international football can't tell the whole story about a player, especially one where he started as bench for Berardi.

Though, one thing is clear. If Motta wanted Chiesa to stay as a key player, I'm sure they would have found a middle ground between Chiesa's demands and Giuntoli's offer. I doubt Motta or any big team believes Chiesa is not a good player, but he is not a player that these teams will build a team around.

that's a good point unfortunately. sample size is too small though. an overhaul was required, club has no money, if mckennie wants 5m and we can only offer 2.5m then it's not only on the club if the player leaves for free. the allegri and chiesa situations look bad indeed. we'll see how he handles people on the long run

bremer, rugani or cambiaso extended on the club's terms lately, so it's not all bad though
That is true but it's not like there is only one way/approach to do it, and giuntoli is doing it his way. So even though as you described there are significant variables at play, at the end of the day, for me this is all on Giuntoli, the good and the bad.

i can't blame the club for not playing along with players with excessive demands :boh:

rabiot, chiesa and mckennie all received an offer which they refused. it's all right, neither of them are irreplaceable (although chiesa is still a special player on his day)

either way i'm happy that we stopped pretending we're real madrid when it comes to wages. dusan us the only exception and he's allegedly willing to spread his salary over multiple years

remember the original reports that Chiesa didnt want to talk extension until after the euros? He probably thought he would ball out again and start a bidding war between clubs. I think that’s when management made their decision he was out. It should always be Juve or nothing. Not too different than Rabiots situation.

i agree with you in the first sentence.

but we all know the club asked chiesa and mckennie to renew at lower wages. a thing almost impossible to do and now it's back firing.

we shouldn't use the woj, rugani and vlahovic as excuses that it can be done. because that's exception to the rule.

it's also insulting to tell our own players that we will not renew your contracts but will go ahead and sign a 4th keeper

as far as i remember mckennie was offered a slight bump and chiesa was allegedly offered 5m instead of the current 5,5m while he believes he can get 7m elsewhere

watch marotta promise him 8m now and put 4m on the contract next summer which is still generous to a player sitting on the stands for a year lul

yeah i will take your word for it on the mckennie deal, because i don't know for sure.

i agree he will get lowballed by marotta and i think any other club. a season rotting on bench and 3 years of bad allegri ball means no one is going to risk a long expensive contract for a 27 turning 28 in october of 2025 acl injuy player

he had one good season in his career and thats thanks to playing with ronaldo and he thinks he deseves ronaldo money lol

if not for ronaldo, he would have never scored 15 goals in that 20/21 season

In the end, I kind of blame his agent. He is incentivised to maximise his salary in the short term.

Given his performances, if he accepted 4-4.5m rather then the 5m a gets now and did an extension, it would have been good for all parties involved….. but they wanted 7m + when they heard how much we were willing to offer Rabiot.

Not he will struggle to ever get more than 4m and have to settle for a clubs with inferior prospects.

It’s Dybala de ja vu

Aside from Vlahovic, and after Tek leaves, hardly anyone on our roster would earn more than 5m
