He's a different type of forward than Mirko. His speciality may not be running past his man, but that doesn't mean he won't be any less effective. He's a more dynamic player, on and off the ball from Mirko. He's also more of a goalscorer. He won't drift as wide as Vucinic, which is why I beg to differ that he can't work with Matri, because I think playing closer to him they will play well off each other something Vucinic has stopped doing. For all his creativity, he's too slow, and too selfish which means nothing in the way this team is built to play. I agree that Quag isn't in the same devastating form of last season, but I've said this time and again, to find any kind of form and sharpness every player needs continuity. If he was getting half as lucky as Mirko has with all the starts despite his lax attitude, I think our forward line would have a different story to tell. Its really a matter of finding your feet and rhythmn. There's no doubt in my head that if Quag had played 20 games like Mirko has, we'd have a different story to tell. His attitude is far superior. And his game (even if you think I'm being biased) far more effective.
The creativity argument holds no water as far as I'm concerned if there is no end product. That cannot be our excuse to play Mirko anymore. He is hurting the team. When was the last time anyone on this team got whistled at!? He'll even Bonnucci does more than that guy.
