He is mobile, on occasion has a good shot. But he's no goal getter, and he's no play builder. Absolutely has nothing on Diego, and at almost the same price, it is absolutely ridiculous.

I agree, he is a good third choice, but not first. G. Rossi would've been an impressive buy. But Quags?

Hasty. We had 2 days to buy a striker, he was our haste decision.

we need to make chances for him, I think he can do well for us.
So basically, we would have the wingers launch cross after cross after cross hoping for either a Borriello or a Quag strike....wonderful play this season. I mean, I don't demand Barcelona style of play, but Jebus.

Here's a question posed to Jack and the others who said Diego must suck because he supposedly wasn't trailed by other big clubs.

Fabio Quagliarella has been on loans and co-owns ever since he was at Torino. He was loaned to Samp from Udinese and went to Napoli. At every club he's been to, his goal to appearances ratio has always been around 1/3. That would be fine if he was a major creative force, which he isn't.

But if this guy was so good, then why hasn't he been pursued by other clubs? Why has he been on loans and co-owns his entire career? Surely if we can use this standard towards Diego and Giovinco, then Quag should be called out, too. But he isn't. Why?

Well, because he now plays for Juventus, of course.

People need to see through this BS. Too bad they won't. Typical tribal mentality once again.

We should have gotten Cassano days ago instead of Diego.

@Andy, Jack was just trolling like mad in the Diego thread during all of the panic, I don't think there is any substance to what he was saying.

That's a valid opinion. I can see that, I guess. But still, it's absolutely pathetic the double standards players receive from the hopers, dreamers and faithers. Pathetic bunch who are probably some of the most subjective folks I've ever seen, much like Manure and Barca fans. Those groups are despised yet many Juve fans are just as bad as they are when it comes to irrational BS.

Yeah i agree with that, i dunno why i bother replying to the argument "But Diego is not a SS, but Quagliarella is so obviously he'll do better."

He had a great 20 minutes at the World Cup. Diego, on the other hand, has never played in the World Cup.

Quagliarella > Diego

No.

Emerson, Kaká, Juninho Pernambucano, Ronaldinho, Ricardinho, Ze Roberto, Gilberto Silva and Mineiro were the midfielders during 2006's WC.

I doubt it. But if so, then maybe Cronios is trolling all the time, too. Maybe he doesn't deserve to hated on either.

Copa America 2007...that's the only time I remember seeing Diego represent Brazil in a major tournament.
Oh yea I must of been thinking about that.

Just assuming because I don't know what goes on in Jack's mind but I don't get why you would compare him to Cronios.

He's not even that good, but yes, he's better than Quag.

Neither should be here. Give me Cassano instead, a player who also isn't a favorite.
Atleast Rossi would've fit in as a SS much better than Quag. I just don't see what Quag brings. His style is neither SS or CF.

Cassano is obviously better.

Wait, who here said Quaggy was "so good"? Must have missed those posts.

You know, him possibly suiting us / our formation better than Diego, doesn't equate to him being excellent player. At least I don't think it does.

I never said Diego sucked, once you stop putting words in my mouth, I am ready to discuss with you.

The Oracle has spoken.

I don't really get what the point of your co-ownership and loan argument is, although I don't think you really appreciate how the co-ownership system works so that's not surprising. Quagliarella was loaned out between the ages of 19 and 21, shocker. Early in his Udinese career he was co-owned out to a smaller Serie A team, again very normal for how they operate, and he impressed enough for Sampdoria to purchase that half. This is where he grows as a player, goes on to play regularly for Udinese and then to Napoli who pay close to €18m in total for him. Look at that profit for Udinese! Now he is at Juventus. This is the story of dozens of players around Italy. We talk again and again about how the system works with young players and then you start trying to discredit Quagliarella as a player by saying he can't be good because he has been 'loaned and co-owned his whole career'. Only a minority of players in Serie A stay at their team when they have been bought at a young age.

'The truth will out on Quaglia' Tuesday 31 August, 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has promised to reveal the reasons why he sold Fabio Quagliarella to Juventus.

The move caused a great deal of shock last week, not least among Napoli supporters because Quagliarella was a hometown hero.

“By now Quagliarella is the past,” De Laurentiis said. “But someone will say their piece on this question in the next few weeks.

I am always thinking about the future, never about the past.”

When asked about how he left his relationship with Quagliarella, De Laurentiis told Sky Italia: “We left it with him going to Juventus.

“I think that feelings for someone come quickly or they don't come at all. Someone has said that in the next few weeks they'll say their piece on this question. As a man of cinema, I don't want to ruin the surprise,” he smiled. :shifty:
