Probably because it gives people a chance to talk and joke about an otherwise taboo subject.

But the point still stands, there has to be something about pedophilia that fascinates people that they want to talk about it so much. Do you think it's just the fact that it's a taboo topic or is there something there?

I have to say this line of pedo jokes is a very strange kind of repression and projection. Why are people so tickled by this topic? What is it within themselves that excites them so about this idea? I don't get it..
Because pedophilia is a social truth, despite all our societal objections to it. Kind of like extramarital affairs among politicians and religious figures, but ratchet it up a few notches of social unacceptability.

When you say "social truth".. do you mean in a reflexive sense? As in "everyone is a little bit xenophobic"?
