Cannavaro's own agent said that his player would take a massive pay cut to play for his hometown side, approximately towards 1 million EUR. I'm not sure about Napoli's wage structure, but 20,000 EUR per week isn't out of the realm of possibility for clubs like Napoli.

I just don't think people really want the player, and I don't blame them.

Napoli, cannot afford to pay him the salary we or Milan would.
And as long as he is a prestige power house and the active NT captain,
Canna will have better economical offers. However they also have ambitions of building up a better team, ambitions we do not share with them, we are looking for a quick fix, not a real investment...

Bro, even I myself can't ignore them. But what I'm trying to say here, is that it's time to move on. That's all.

Anyway, if he signs, then I hope we did the right thing and we don't stop here but look for another defender because personally I don't trust Cannavaro anymore.
I am convinced that this is a mistake, beside the fact that i dont trust Canna anymore either, i am certain that if we sign him, we condemn the build up of our defense, as we will not sign a permanent fix when we have a quick fix in our hands and we will also compromise Criscito's chances!!
One way or the other, this transfer will harm our interests.
Hopefully, not twice...

It's incredible how people can deny it. The thing is that he stated this like 20+ times after Calciopoli.

I doubt it. But if that's the case, then that's a very retarded way of thinking from Fabio.
I don't know if it's retarded or not but all players do it once they change club.

Its basic PR of top professionals to say how wonderful its to sign for your new club, he doesnt actually need to fake it when that club is Real frigging Madrid, but its mainly about sugarcoating and being diplomatic. Its the easiest way to appease your new club and fans.

Exactly and basically EVERY footballer does it.

Our situation is different, Osm.

He was asked why he left the Club, he responded back saying I left because I wanted to win the CL. I don't see how he's pleasing Real Madrid fans with this statement TBH.

Anyway, I've had enough of Canna talking today.

Is Cannavaro slow or much slower than he was in 2006?
I'd say he's slower, not necessarily much slower, but he is slower.

Also, i'd agree with Osman's post, "awful" might be an exaggeration as he is still better than many defenders, especially in the Liga. But still he's been nothing more than average especially by his high standards.

You have to understand that his play in la liga cant be directly compared to serie a. He wont be exposed near as much if he is with us. Plus add a good rb and that could be very solid back. I know its hard to think about but he could be the leader and not the rock of our defense. We do have Killini to dominate we need a brain to organize and also will help the youngsters alot and I dont see it hurting Criscito as he would learn alot and probably wouldnt start next year anyway.

Yeah, well that might be the main reason for his drop in form, which is normal concidering his age though. You don't forget how to defend, it's just that your body doesn't let you do some things you could do before.
If Cannavaro isn't much slower though, then he might not be finished yet.

Either that or he was never a WC defender :D
Afterall, if his ass is covered by the 2DMCs and Pepe in Real, you could argue the same with Emerson/Vieira/Gattuso/De Rossi ..... Nesta/Thuram.

But it's his speed in everything. He doesn't tackle the way he used to, he isn't able to make interventions the way he once did, so it's not just like his sprinting is off. It's everything.

And to be honest, his decision-making has been off, too.

as back up he is good. in fact, legro and cananavaro as back up would be good enough overall. cannavaro cant be brought in as that key partner for chiellini.

winning the CL is all that matters to Real, it would be like a new coach coming ina dn saying he wants to play delpie and giovinco every week. it may not be realistic but it would certainly get the fans on your side

tbh Canna's game is not about pace but more the reading of the game, if it is only his pace that has deserted him then he can still cover that with his exceptional reading of the game and positional sense, if that has gone....well then he is completely fucked
