I was watching how Manchester play at the back when the defenders have possession. It was pure perfection. Vidic, who i didn't really think that is very comfortable with the ball, made excellent passes and even his long balls never missed the target. Ferdinand was even better.
Of course, much has to do with how the Man Utd midfielders move and how they make themselves available to recieve a pass (unlike our guys, who are easily covered, which leaves our defenders clueless), but it has more to do with Vidic and Ferdinand and their passing game, which is light years ahead of what our defenders can do.

Yeah, the way they move the ball at the back is great and very noticeable, and I think it's obvious their coaching staff has something to do with Vidic's improvement in that area. Even when I've seen that Evans guy back there he knew how to move the ball.

That's what I like to see, an XI man crew that knows how to move the ball efficiently throughout the pitch with purpose and reason. That's what I'd try to instill in my team.

I think (with the exception of Ferdinand) the quality movement of the ball is more to do with the high standard of off the ball movement of the midfield and forwards than the defender's technical ability.

Vidic and Evans are just decent at passing.

Well surely the midfield plays the larger part, but at least they know not to blast the ball aimlessly down the pitch like some other defenders.

The whole team just works smoothly together, which makes me want to vomit.

This is what I said in the thread I opened few days ago "Defensive problem". And I gave the perfect example of Vidic and Ferdinand. They're not better defensively than Chiellini at least Ferdinand, but he's way ahead of him when having possession. Much better.

Ah yes, a team playing as a team and with a clear game-plan.

Obviously, this is too much to ask for.

People don't understand why I hate our sort of football these days, but when you think about this stuff one should be able to finally understand.

I mean, it's not that hard to work on team movement and ball distribution. You just have to do it. Even Genoa makes us look like neanderthals out there.

It's not just the ball movement and fluidity that we lack when building up an attack. I would be less reluctant to get angry if we had a defender that had some accuracy on the long balls. We do not have one that comes to mind that can actually play up a long ball accurately. All you really need to do is keep our defense under pressure and you control the game. Our midfield has been bypassed all season long, it must be a dream to play us this season

ps. sorry about the text last night, my bad:pumpkin:

I was thinking the same thing when i was watching them too.
Sad thing, that we will never make such a team though, at least not with this transfer policy...
