Yeah, the numbers say that in La Liga they conceded only 11 goals on the 19 matches while Ramos is their coach. 4 of these 11 goals were conceded on the last two matches.
Apart from that humiliation in Liverpool, their defense has been holding on well lately. Before Ramos came they conceded 23 goals on 14 La Liga matches.

Bollocks what about the first half of the season where he was average? Games against Numancia, Sevilla, Getafe where he was downright poor. What about last week against Getafe? The week before it against Recreativo where he almost cost his team the game if it weren't for Pepe, How about the game against Athletico where he was outplayed by Aguero?
These are just off the top of my head. Cannavaro is having a poor season whichever way you put it. Really baffling that someone would think otherwise. Maybe you're watching different games than i am.
But really Cannavaro hasn't had many good games, even when Ramos came the only thing thats changed is, that he isnt as exposed as he used to be, as Ramos has deployed two defensive mids to screen the defense. Lassana Diarra and Fernando Gago are to thank for Madrids new found defensive solidity, along with Pepe who has been very good for them this year. Cannavaro really hasn't contributed as much. Funny that you're trying to credit Cannavaro for Real's defensive record.
Pepe is the much better defender currently and Real is probably going to ship in more goals than before, because Pepe is an integral part of their defense.

I understand that and its a good point but i'm more interested in his form for the azzuri over the year. Lippi knows that canna will step up come world cup time and some would say even for the qualifiers and the confederations cup. But is he consistently delivering for them ? The azzuri are a more compact outfit than real and were more stable over the year.
if it means directing funds to buying real quality elsewhere, then yes, and not on players like quagliarella and ledesma. The argument for cannavaro is that he isnt prone to injuries as much as agger, and is willing to take a pay cut, whilst agger is likely to be looking for the same or more, and can offer his experience to younger lads, which again agger cant. Defensively canna has improved tremendously under Juande Ramos so i have confidence the ability is still there.
What Cannavaro has to do with Quagliarella and Ledesma my friend? We are talking about the defensive department part.
Too many of you are putting their expectations on a high level. Some objectivity about this guy wouldn't harm.
I'm not asking for Terry or Agger, but there are hundreds of other ways to improve our defense other than signing someone that is turning almost into his 40. Someone who has abandoned this ship few years ago and now that we are back in CL he wants to be back, someone who isn't performing. Someone who can't give more than Legro/Chiellini, maybe a bit more but wont be such an improvement.
