Its simple why I would take Canna over any other defender who has been linked to us....

the risk is lower and the price is not high. Its not really a gamble, to get an instant leader to your team, than gamble on a guy, who is not proven in Serie A or is a one season wonder....

Even if he isn't playing in every game, his leadership would be priceless. We do not have that and even if we brought in a youngster like Kjaer or someone like Agger we still wouldn't have the "organizational leader" like Canna. I believe with proper guidance and more experience that will be Chiellini in a couple more seasons. As a youngster like Criscito or Ariaudo its a dream to play along side of the Azzurri captain and one of the best defenders of the game. Highly motivational.

Canna was easily one of my favourite players when he was with us, and I think the 'traitor' talk is silly. The bottom line is that he's a footballer and has to look out for his own interests. At his age, it just wouldn't have been a smart career move to stay with a club that was going down to Serie B.

So he can stay at his Real Madrid then, little bastard.

i think people have a problem with it because of the way he handled it. Just a week before the decision to relegate us he said he would stay with us even in serie C. The decision was made and straight away he ran off to Madrid, completely betraying his word. As did Capello. That is the only thing hard to forgive, not the fact that he left

Exactly, I dont care about traitor this or that simply for leaving, players can leave, simple as that, dont have to stay where they dont want to. But Cannavaro is the only one that behaved like a total weasel out of all the players, but he never is called out for it. He was sugarcoating and lying to our face of what a loyal servant will be, while skidaddling ASAP immediately after. Capello was also a total weasel, which is nothing new. But Canna didnt need to talk shit, pay BS lip service, if he wants to leave, just keep quiet and simply leave like the others did (he didnt, but the others who did are the ones getting all the grief).

But I have no problem with accepting him back IF he was still a highly competent defender, the above isnt the issue, the issue is that is a waaaaay past it now.

Stephan said it hilariously, we would have teased the fuck out of Milan if he signed for them, and alot of people were mocking them when was rumoured to them.

Amen to that! Sums it up!

@ Osman:
Gallas has a serious injury at the moment.
When was the last time, we were linked to him by a serious source?
Whats his price?
Would Gallas bring the same leadership than Canna?

In a purely footballing sense, this would be a good move.

However, he should not get paid heaps and he should not be our main defensive signing.

This teams lacks experience in defence and it lacks players that know what it takes to win a Scudetto. We also have a few good young defenders and they will learn a lot faster if they have an experienced player like Cannavaro about.

I give this move a tentative 'yes', but I need to know more about the details.
