same as yours. :D how you managed to take that screenshot is beyond me. my spin is so fast, i barely notice it. :D
That is because you change desktops using the workspace selector. But if you press alt-ctrl and right click on the desktop using the mouse.... you can move it manually then. Next, just press print screen:D

Try it and post it here;)

Well it does look more or less cool. Is it functional though? It seems rather annoying to me.

First of all it works on Linux. If you are on Windows, can't help ya there, there might be an alternative but I am not aware of...

And yes it is functional only if you have a top notch PC, other than that it would just be a drag....

If you don't use it, never gets in your way. It's just there, if you press Ctrl and move your mouse to the left, you rotate the screen like you can see in those screenshots. You can also make windows semi-transparents and give them shadows etc. It doesn't really improve usability much, but it's nice to know that it can be done for those who want it.

I've never had a 64bit system and I don't see why I would get one honestly. Aside from the cpu's being tuned a bit better, there is no great benefit. For scientific computing it's great, but I don't do any of them.

meanwhile, while you people are playing with your toys and cubes, I have been doing something productive... After 2 whole days of work (yes, two :p) I was able to slot a new dvd drive into my old pc, add a few ram chips I stole off of my cuz's pc, add a new hard drive, gfx card, and voila, I've got myself a full-fledged multimedia center connected to the TV.. with surround sound, too :D

Now if only I could get Xgl/Compiz working on *that*, then it'd be the bomb :D

well i had it with xgl/compiz/beryl, whatever they call it nowadays. every second day something changed that screws up the os.

i did a fresh install without it and i'm a much happier man. system runs faster and quite frankly those effects are fun for a day or two.
yes martin, you were right. :p

What put me off xgl the most was how much slower my desktop became. I mean ordinarily I'm probably just utilizing my video card at 20% since I don't play any games and I don't do anything graphics intensive. But with xgl, it would run fine while idle, but once the system got some load, RAM started to be scarce, xgl really made it feel much slower.
