just a matter of time, isn't it

someone show them either a history book or a laffer curve. or both. i still doubt they'd get any of that. recent time commies are just as bad as current nazis, whatever they label themselves
new party: hey let's tax the rich more. you know those earning who are the 1% of the 1% percent so we can better provide more services for rest of society like better health care and quality of life.

s4tach and his friends who earns less than 400k per year so would not be taxed this: omg these commies are destroying MY life! they just as bad as nazis who wanted to kill people!

true love is how meloni looks at orbán :heart:

1000035093_edited.jpeg
Her wardrobe is actually funnier... the classic aging Italian woman raging against fading relevance look. The kind you see on MediaSet soap operas for women of a certain age.

But she makes those faces when looking at ice cream. I kinda suspect more that Orban got photobombed here for effect, given they politically have much more in common. I saw similar Jerry-Lewis-faced photos of hers yesterday and they said it was because "Biden was late". So pick your target.

Hundo percent (except that 400k isn't close to the 1%)

The people who would pay this on their income tax have most of their wealth in stocks and property etc. Don't worry about them.

nah. any 90% tax only pushes anyone affected to simply avoid the tax, regardless of who's affected. it's simply dumb, no two ways about it. it's simply a populist bullshit that would backfire in no time

also 400k is not an awful lot, especially when it comes to dividends. many local entrepreneurs would be taxable persons from day 1 if it happened in hungary. their accountants would hide the revenue in no time though lol

you can change my mind though. give me an example of a well functioning tax with a 90% rate

According to the Foreign Office, the make-up artist for Minister Baerbock cost 136,500 Euro in 2022.

This is just epic. I read it was like 1.5 million for hairs, make up and photographs in a year. Hilarious how far the shitshow goes.

Agree on the bold part and actually most of the rest of what you say as well, but Lion was addressing the view ive seen that people defend the interests of those far richer than them against their own interests.

And yeah, 400k is not close to the 1% like I said.

Tax ain't it. We need to revamp the way we understand wealth, value and work partly because the liberal experiment of the last 300 years is drifting us back to the monopoly of aristocracy- only this time around the global south is starting to get its shit together so there is a lower percentage of global wealth concentrated in the global north anyway (and this is obviously a great thing to see), and partly because we are living through the third great disruption in human society-- the first being the development of agriculture and then the industrial revolution. The emergence of computing technology broadly, and more specifically AI, has huge rammifications for the way we categorise labour, wealth and value and we need to prepare for this new reality.

As you're alluding to, income isn't where it's actually at for the rich. Income tax is far too easily avoided. But it's all moot because the very concepts of work, wealth, income and also property in some senses are going to have to undergo a huge change in our lifetimes.

The research also highlighted several other key statistics, namely:

  • the 1% richest people in France take home €6,650 ($7,441) after tax each month;
  • 500,000 people take home over €100,000 ($111,865) per year; and
  • the absolute richest people, who take home €38,500 ($43,083) each month, account for just 0.01% of the population.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexle...ew-study-defines-what-it-means-to-be-wealthy/

earning 400k for sure puts you in the top 1% of population.

I don't think people realize how rare it is for someone to earn 400k per year in just income.

    Ursula got elected for another 5 years

    Honestly I don’t know who were the other options so I don’t know if I should be happy or not.

    Its fucking insane that people getting appointed to such positions get so low coverage in the news here.

    @U Picciriddu @s4tch @Alin @Scottish @Valerio.

    I'd like to take a moment of your time to talk about Culture. I've wanted to talk about it long time ago but didn't find a right thread, I'm from an ethnic minority in Iran. We're Baloch and mostly live in south and Southeast of Iran. Balochs are scatred among Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Oman and Turkmenistan. We’re a tribal people and have our own language and style of dress. Not to mention we have some linguistic similarities with Kurds and Persians and even have a lot of common in Culture and customs.
    The purpose of posting this is I was looking for something like cultural similarities and clothes with people and ethnic groups in Europe. As i pointed we have tradition dresses, Handicrafts, Rug, Carpet and Needlework. I'd truly appreciate if you replay me based on your observation about Ethnicities and Races in Europe that is similar to my culture.

    Thank you for posting, as i know in Romania, Hungary Some people follow dress code and they are consist of tribes and have different lifestyle and cuisine
    Romania also has many different versions depending on regions, most do have similarities though, here are some examples:

    IMG_3677.jpeg IMG_3679.jpeg IMG_3680.jpeg IMG_3678.jpeg

    It’s mostly a long lost trend here tbh, rarely in use this days outside of themed festivals, whereas other traditions that we might have in common is on certain craftsmanships and even cuisine, because we have a long history with the Ottomans too we obviously adapted not only some customs but also parts from the turkish/middle eastern cuisine that have been converted to local traditional varieties here.
