during my language studies I noticed that Austria is mentioned as enemy in the Italian anthem

Son giunchi che piegano
Le spade vendute:
Già l’Aquila d’Austria
Le penne ha perdute.

Il sangue d’Italia,
Il sangue Polacco,
Bevé col cosacco,
Ma il cor le bruciò.
Same reason you're saying fuck austria or are you saying for sports reasons?

I wasn't really serious, but
- they were essentially the cause of both world wars, but Germany gets the blame
- fucked over the independent city-states for years, and then even after that remained probably the biggest obsticle for unification afterwards that I can think of. Denied Italians their sovereignty for years, killing thousands through putting down rebellions and independence wars.
- who the fuck likes the Hapsburgs? Them chins be THICC.

But this is just a sport, and it's ridiculous to blame the son for the sins of the father, so we'll settle for fuck Arnautovic. Forza my Albanian homies.

I really enjoyed tonights match and I'm so glad Italy went through. Mancini is doing great job. I was not a huge fan of certain players starting but he made really great subs tonight.

Got nervous for Italy in the 2nd 15 minute mark when they were so sloppy in front of Donna. That one diving save says he deserves 10 mil, just not from Juve. Yes Verretti creates but few times held onto the ball a little too long. Wonder if Mancini goes back to Locatelli next match? Ciro just had no luck tonight. Heard one pregame announcer say he's the Morata of Italy. Needs more than just one shot at goal to score. And Insigne maybe was too unselfish in not shooting looking for someone else that didn't appear.

As a finisher, there is no comparison between Immobile and Morata. Although Morata is better at counterattacks and build up play.

It was a wake up call for Italy, great performance by Austria. My worry is that Italy don't have that one player who given that one chance can bury it, a Ronaldo/Lukaku type that can snatch a goal against Portugal/Belgium/France. I think that'll be the difference in the end.

    One can only hope.
