They probably gave up the minute they understood the draw for the rest of the turnament. Epl is also much harder than the other leagues, so the players where tired and need rest till next year.

It would have been more convincing if England occasionally made it into the late stages of a tournament. Whether it be Iceland or another team they always miserably fail in these competitions, you could have seen it miles away.
