thanks for yesterday's post match posts in the live thread, @Völler @Xperd @piotrr  :dule:

hungary performed way above expectations. some may remember gera (our 10) from the juve-fulham el tie from 2010: cannavaro fouled him before his dismissal (it was a harsh red), then gera scored two goals, and carried his team to the finals. he played as an am or an ss for fulham, he always was considered as an attacking player. then last year, when dárdai (former nt coach, current hertha coach) moved him into dm, because he thought gera was too slow to be a real danger in the attacking third, but with his experience, he would read the game pretty well. yesterday, this was proved to be a great tactical choice. gera was my man of the match, with 7 tackles and 3 interceptions he stopped some austrian attacks by himself. alaba looked like the most talented player on the pitch, by quite a margin, but the most effective was gera. austria are in trouble now, this was supposed to be their easy match. they still can beat portugal, but iceland are just 100% pain in the ass, very physical, tricky opponents, who deliberately kick the ball to empty spaces in the attacking third of the opponent just to press the opponents' build up and try to counter as much as possible.

btw piotrr, my brother had a similar t-shirt like you posted here: http://www.juventuz.com/threads/42520-Euro-live-thread?p=5283499&viewfull=1#post5283499 like 25 years ago, he was in poland for a week with a folk dance group, and his hosts were a super nice polish family. he still remembers the hangover from the last night they spent there :D
Congrats guys, played well

That's what happens when you don't take your chances and have the mental strength of a Roma under-15 side I guess

The Hun-Pol bond is still strong, i see many Hungarians during our indepence day, they come to Warsaw to take part in the march.

 alaba hit the woodwork at the very 1st minute, if it goes in, it's a different match. i really hope you beat the shit out of portugal, a crying ronaldo is the nicest ronaldo i can think of.

about the pol-hun friendship: it dates back to the 18th century, and is lasting ever since. for instance, when the hungarian-polish friendship day (23 march) was unanimously voted by the hungarian parliament, hungary had a socialist government.

In a 16 team tournament, a draw with a team like Iceland would be a bear disaster for Portugal. Now...meh. They can probably draw their next two games and still probably qualify in 3rd place. Fuck this 24 team shit.
True dat. Qualifications were lamer. Group stage also lamer.

Ronaldo and Messi ending their careers without an international title is what lets me sleep at night
Messi could still win something as an older bench player.

Müller is the Padoin of worldclass players. Nobody will remember him 2 days after his career ends.

Still gonna take a day off to piss on his grave when the day comes

80% of the best football players are probably douches to be honest - uneducated and loved by millions of people - kind of does it to you.
Well, agreed with everything but the uneducated part. Many are multilingual, half smart douches.

Should have had 8 groups of 3 teams each with winner of each group going to the last 8.

Wouldve been way more competitive and exciting.

Or the 8 teams that progress from the group could be further pooled into 2 groups with the best two of each group making semis if their aim is to have more games

I really dont mind more teams.Teams like Hungary and Wales get a golden opportunity to showcase themselves on the big stage which wouldnt have happened in previous tournaments. It also attracts a larger (European) audience.

The only problem is the format.Teams like Portugal can afford to have 1 or 2 blips and still make it to the knockouts.Thats unjustified if you ask me.Bigger teams end up being lucky losers in this format.

Yeah, but you can't have more teams without a stupid format.

I disagree. I'd be perfectly happy with not watching a team like Hungary or Ireland play. Sure, it's nice to see a small team like Iceland surprise, but one sunshine story is enough. Right now there are too many insignificant teams playing.

Zero interest, never watch copa, and its not only because its on 02.00-04.00 in the morning here. They themselves dont seem to care for it so why should I.
