AH .. the group stages of the tournament will be the great .. I don't expect the latter stages will be half as good

Not really, whoever wins this group i think will be better for it n be better prepared for the knockout finals, so if Italy can get through this group i'd be feeling pretty confident, but thats a big if
Italy are notoriously slow starters in big intl. tournaments...i do not mean they r screwed in the sense that the opposition is better than them, but because even a draw will do more bad than good....and with Donadoni at the helm :(

Oh true they are, but obviously they must start this tournament all guns blazing, n that will depend on who Donadoni selects n how he plays it out n well im not that confident now i have said that

As long as nothing happens to Buffon, Cannavaro or Toni and can see Italy managing to get through, especially as the last group game is against Romania, rather than Holland or France
Group C
June 9 Romania-France (17.00, Zurich)
June 9 Holland-Italy (19.45, Berne)
June 13 Italy-Romania (17.00, Zurich)
June 13 Holland-France (19.45, Berne)
June 21 Holland-Romania (19.45, Berne)
June 21 France-Italy (19.45, Zurich)
Looks like somebody was wrong. :D

There is no easy group, (apart from the b),
it is true that Italy had the worst but everybody must prove his value from the start and play like there is no tomorrow. This is going to be a spectacular euro competition, with no/or minimum boring and unimportant games. Good for the sport and all the fans. Well, good luck to everybody!

what a great draw! i love to play france, especially in the games that count. we all know who will end victorious. anyway, a group of death may help italy again just as in the WC. they've got to start well, and once they can do that, they can maintain the pace and get the double.

There is no easy group in the Euro(except for groups a,b & d).
All the other groups are so hard.

Actually this draw made me excited for the euro from now,My mission for the next 6 months is to get tickets to Italy matches.

Good luck getting tickets! I am trying to get some myself now. Its become my mission, too. :D

These draws are so obnoxious. I don't mind playing most of those teams because we can take all of them but I mean seriously how do we always end up in France's group. Suspicious much? Like CL, how in the world did Roma and Man Utd. fall into the same group again? Fishy if you ask me. I think we can get out of this group but for once I wanted an easy group so we could just breeze by.

Oh, you mean like the one Italy had in Euro 2004, where they somehow managed to fluff out because of their inability to keep their feet on the ground?

I couldn't be happier for Italy being drawn into this ridiculously hard group. It's time for this national team to get knocked back down to reality, especially with Donadoni at the helm.

TBH none of those teams look easy. They all look strong and you have got to consider the effect of the hosts playing on home turf (plus the regular underdog team that will rise)

It's going to be a killer.

I am curious to find from anyone that is in the know, why Holland was seeded. I read somewhere its because they had the highest coeeficient but based on what?

They do not have the best record in European champs, thats Germany, they are not the highest ranked European side thats Italy

Apart from Greece the defending champs, they are not the latest side to have won it, thats France

They were not the best qualified team as they finished 2nd in their group so what exactly was the criterion.

I have the feeling they wanted a group of death involving France, Italy and possibly Holland to give co hosts a chance of qualifying to keep local interests going so they can be relatively easier groups.

How on earth did France end up in pot 4? Sorry but that is an insult of great proportions
