Totti did some pretty selfish stuff today... He wanted to score an out-of-this-world goal like he always wants, instead of giving the ball to unmarked teammates!!

his freekicks (except the first one) were none too convincing

you expect that from totti. its just that nobody makes it clear for him that this is far more important than personal glory

Indeed he is, but he hasn't scored a decent one since the CL game against Newcastle IIRC. Damn I miss those days

First of all "dude", turn off your caps lock key.

I don't care if he was a full-back for two years, that doesn't mean it's his best position. Tudor has been played as a defensive midfielder too, where he gets injured all the time and is basically shite. Thuram showed how good he can be as a centre-back, but has Lippi played him there? No. So don't go telling me that just because a coach plays a player in a certain position, he's ideal there.

Zambro's NATURAL POSITION is a right midfielder, and if you remember, he was switched to left back as a makeshift defender. You must be blind if you can't see that Zambro is a fockin excellent winger. He's got pace and awesome crossing ability, but his defensive skills aren't the best in the world. So why waste his energy by making him run back, when we could sign a new left back and give him the freedom to be an attacking player, thereby maximising his attacking potential?

I'm well aware of the reasons why he plays the position he does, as well as the formation he plays in. What I'm saying is that he doesn't HAVE TO be put in the left back role, forcing him to refrain from attacking in case they get hit on the counterattack. You're assuming that he should be placed at left-back and I'm asking him to be a fockin Roberto Carlos, which I'm not. All I ask is that he gets a fair go in the right midfield role which he's excelled at whenever played there
I'm sorry, but I must disagree with all of this Zambrotta is a better midfielder talk.

He was always an above average right winger, but ever since he's moved to left fullback he's won a scudetto and went to a CL Final. Then the following season he was named to the Serie A team of the year. He's clearly excelled in this position more than he ever has at the right midfield position.

Bottom line is that he was never amongst the elite right midfielders. But for the past 2 seasons he's been compared to Roberto Carlos at left fullback meaning he's top 3 left fullback (terzino sinistro) in the world.

And River, the game against Man U, he was fouled on that goal by I think it was Veron. He was pushed down and then slipped on the surface. And that was the single bad game he had in the CL last year.

YEAH but rooney are just random comments. because u have to talk something in the press when ure playing in national league. but henry told this to the EURO general press conference. ure missing my point. dont mess it up with other comments. torres also said the same.
Good. Great. Grand. Wonderful. Torres said Casano would be a star. Same with Henry. How the hell do they know? Maybe he won't be a star. Nothing is set in stone. I'll tell you one thing, NOBODY impressed me to today, except for Buffon.

IMO, Zambrotta is the best left fullback in the world, and would excel more in a 4-3-1-2 formation so he could attack more like a Roberto Carlos.

I agree with most of that. I think Zambrotta plays just as well at left back as in midfield. Also, we did Trap a favor by turning him into a LB. If not, we would be watching Favalli or Coco on the left flank. That would be just great.

No offence, but those achievements mean little to me in terms of what they say about a player's performance. Philip Neville has won 1 Youth FA Cup, 6 English Championships, 2 FA Cups, 3 Charity shields, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 Champions League. That hardly means that he's the best player in his position, it just means that the team's performed around him. Juventus didn't win scudetti for a couple of seasons, and just because we won in the same season that Zambro was converted to a LB, doesn't mean that that's his best position.

I never disagreed that he's a bloody excellent left-back, in fact I think he's one of the best in the world in that position, but I'm simply saying that I think he'd be more effective if we took the burden of the defensive duties off him, and let him terrorise opposition defenders more frequently.

The only reason Zambro lost his right midfield role is because he was out for months after having surgery, and in that time Camoranesi performed excellently on the right wing. When Zambro came back, he was forced to play as a left-back, and being the Mr. Versatile that he is, he naturally excelled there. Again, that doesn't mean that his most effective position is at LB

As for being compared with Roberto Carlos, that's exactly my point. I don't want a Roberto Carlos style player to occupy our left-back position, because we all know what happens when he gets caught out and does silly things in defence. I'd rather have a decent left-back who can defend well, and switch Zambro to right midfield where he can use his Roberto Carlos-like attacking abilities to their maximum potential

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! :excited:

the kick on the back of the head that i hope for from the first game... and its not so bad... still got away with a point... now all 24 people in the squad will realize, again, that their names and reputation alone wont cut it at this level... i hope this will make them rally around , drop their useless ego, and think about one thing.. the teammmm... compete for your place, but once the competetion is over , there should only be one thing only in mind.. the team...support their own team mate damn it... and after that will they find their true power,..:excited:

i am soo excited.... from now on , they will play with their feet firmly on the earth... no more waining around in the land of stardom.. hehhehehhe... sweden and bulgaria.. beware....

by the way, i dun think Del Piero play that bad to lose his place.. and Casssano dun do any good to win it.... but i have to admit , this is the first time i see the complete breakdown of Zanetti- Perotta.. the were such a firm partnership during the qualifiers... i dont think its wise to scarp them just after one game, but i guess pirlo-gattuso just make their case.... anyway if pirlo-gattuso won their place , than cassano and fiore also will cry for theirs either.. i hope this dont get messy...
