At the end of the day, it's Juventus against Trabsonspor, people have every right to be discouraged by the performance despite the win. Winning ugly just doesn't quite cover this one imo, we were lucky with the first goal, lucky the 5th official/linesman decided to rule out their goal (which could easily have stood on another day) and the second goal flattered us to be fair. Their were some atrocious individual performances last night, no need to name names as everyone can draw their own conclusions. That back-line devoid of either Chiellini or Barzagli is a real worry as there's no one really capable of cleaning up Bonucci's mistakes.
Our ethos towards European competition is just unfathomable, how can we be all ''grinta'' and “Vincere non è importante, è l’unica cosa che conta” in the league and then just lose the plot against opposition outside of the league? If there were any doubt we were in trouble of losing our 9 point lead over Roma, then fine I'd understand us fielding a weakened team, but we aren't.
I'm happy with the win, don't get me wrong, it's a decent advantage to take to Turkey, but if we play anything like we did last night in the second leg we'll find it very difficult to progress. Only positive if we get through, is that we'll most likely face Fiorentina and there will (finger's crossed) be more determination to progress as Conte might confuse this for a Serie A game.
