Fred, one is playing for the superior Spanish team of the last couple of years, one is playing for a team that's in transition for the last couple of years. It's not a fair comparison.

Xavi is the type of player that will always make the right pass, rarely complicate things. Iniesta on the other hand will do the unexpected, pull a pass through 4 defenders to the attackers feet. Xavi never, ever took my breath away, Iniesta and Fabregas did. They've got the inteligence, vision and skill, Xavi's got that all but to a lesser degree.

Iniesta is a more complete player than Xavi, he's a much better dribbler for example. He might be less predictable than Xavi, but he is nowhere near as Xavi in terms of effectiveness or consistency. Xavi is the better player for the time being. Xavi is still an unpredictable player though, some of the through balls he pulls off are out of this world, and he is probably the best player in the world in terms of keeping the ball. Really, how many times do you see him lose the ball, how many times do you see opposition midfielders taking the ball off him? Exactly, very little.

I would actually say he is a more intelligent and a more skillful player than Cesc, but Cesc has probably got better vision, as he can pick out a through ball better than Xavi.

And we weren't in transition last year Vlatko, we played our best season since 2005, yet Cesc did not perform well for the whole season like Xavi has done for the past 3 years.

Fucking through balls? Very little players are capable of delivering them on a constant basis. Xavi is one of those few players.

He doesn't lose the ball because he doesn't complicate things, most of the time he will pass to the nearest player. That's why he doesn't lose the ball as much, why he has so many correct passes and when you take in account he does all the set-pieces, why he has so much assists.
