Especially about his defensive capability.

Ask the EPL watchers and take it from them.

If he has defensive capabilities, he certainly didn't use them in the second half.

He did set up our last goal. And for most of the second half Lucas was pressing forward and Xabi was competing against Lampard and Ballack. There isn't a midfielder in the world who could handle that and you know it.

I am certainly not "proud". We played til then end, but we do that anyway. We made far too many mistakes in the second half and blew the match right when we were primed to take it out of the Commies slimy fingers.

He almost always makes his presence in midfield felt, with this i agree with Andy. He does make the play go more smoothly.

This being said, i'm still convinced that a player like him would not offer much to THIS Juve we have. More than what our CMs offer, but not much at all, because Molinaro, Grygera and Marchionni would have fucked up everything up front, while the defense was going to be exposed much more.
We need at least 3-4 new players before we decide to buy a player like Xabi. And if we splashed 20m eur (which we didn't even have) we were going to be in a very similar position that we are now, but with much less money for the 2009 summer mercato.
Before someone brings Poulsen into this....yes, i see that transfer as another mistake. We didn't need him.

Xabi came back and made a couple crucial interventions in the first half through open play, including saving an open header for Malouda or somebody. He also had to get stuck in as Mascherano had three players to deal with.

As for the second half, I didn't get to pay close attention as I'm in class.

Yeah you're right. Alonso isn't fit to play for Chievo's Primavera. Who am I kidding arguing with Jack the Football Maestro.

I don't really agree with that, I really wanted him at Juve and injury free he would have done us much better than Poulsen. But then again we wouldn't have seen anything of Marchisio and I am happy that Marchisio got his chance to show his worth.

As for Poulsen, he's a totally different formula and I like the player for his character and his dynamism. I am happy he's with us.

The usual things like "I told you this player was good" "Screw you for not wanting this player over here" etc. Always we have an Einstein or two around here after each CL game played.
