I see more defensive mistakes in one EPL match than in 4 or 5 Serie A matches.

Perhaps that's why some find it more entertaining but really... I just saw a defender head the ball back onto Nasri's foot as if he were a teammate. I can't remember the last time I've seen someone do that in Serie A. FFS, even shit like Cesena head those balls into the 5th row of the stands every time.

Van Persie goalscoring record in the PL:

2010/2011: 18 in 25
2009/2010: 9 in 16
2008/2009: 11 in 28
2007/2008: 7 in 15
2006/2007: 11 in 22

That's an amazing record for any striker. Persie is far from a one season wonder, it's his injuries that robbed him from having successful seasons on constant biases. And it wasn't up until 2009 that Persie became Arsenal's main striker, as he played behind Adebayor/Henry before that.

To say that he's a one season wonder is an insane thing to say.
I think you need to take another, much closer look at those figures again 'cause if they prove anything it's me being right ;)
I understand that you, as a Manu fan, need to convince yourself in him being a WC player but that doesn't mean you should call the black white, if you know what I mean :)

RVP was great last year for Arsenal and had a very good season before that but the argument here is whether he is a wc/great player and that he is yet to show he can be on a more consistent basis that goes well beyond the span of a season. Maybe I was too harsh on him by calling him a one-season wonder - as of right now, he is probably a 1.5 season wonder, really :p - but he should feel free to prove me wrong ;)

Show me a better record. 0.5+ goals per game is a great record for any player that is not Ronaldo or Messi.
Consider that he got that record while being in and out of the team because of injuries and not playing as the main striker.

Van Persie is a world class striker and no one can argue about that. Any Arsenal fan trying to label him as a one season wonder, is just too bitter to remember how good Persie was.

I missed your point about how he played relatively few matches, so in that light it's a lot of goals yeah.

Still, if you want to be strict about it then the ability to stay fit and to stay in the team are fairly key aptitudes that describe a WC striker, don't you think?

Van Persie scored whenever he was fit. I've been a huge fan of Persie since his early days at Arsenal and I rate him more than Rooney and for me he's always been the 2nd best striker in the Premier league after Drogba. (or 3rd after Torres, when Torres was still considered good)
I don't need to convince myself anything, Persie is a brilliant player and would improve any team he joins. He's a luxury signing, he's an unnecessary signing and we could've done much better using that money to sign another midfielder or heck, even signing Song would've been better.
But if Persie is used in the right way (Without forcing Kagawa and Valencia out of position) he can be the difference between winning the PL and the 2nd place.

Ideally I'd play like this:

-------Persie

Nani Rooney Valencia

---Carrick Scholes

Rooney was amazing playing behind Chicharito in 2011. Rooney can rotate with Persie, and Kagawa rotate with Rooney.
