I love Henry.

Maradona's handball was even more blatant and I don't see half the people hating.
Why does the fact that Maradona doesn't get crap make it okay for Henry to go through unnoticed again? FIFA proved themselves to be corrupt cunts with that episode. If it was the other way around, I'm sure there would have been some sort of action taken. But noo, you can't mess with the French FA.

So? Is it ultimately only Henry's fault? Do you remember who the ref was in the game? Do you hate him too?

For me it's the same as if the french had scored an offside goal, breaking the rules it's still the same and the goal shouldn't have stood either way, but if that was the case people would be criticizing the ref or the linesman instead.

Hell, you don't think about the consequences in that split second the action takes place, it is up to the refs and ultimately FIFA to take measures, not the player.

He even said he felt bad and that he would've liked to play a replay match but it was FIFA who ultimately decided against it.

How can it be the same as scoring an offside goal? You might not know that you are offside and you take advantage of the opportunity - Henry deliberately controlled the ball with his hand and passed it for the goal which would later bring France to the WC. There is a distinct difference, imho.

It is still against the rules, isn't it? The play should be disallowed in both cases.

That's because it happened against England, rather than the more likeable Irish underdogs. I can't say that English people are too fond of that goal or Maradona.
I agree, the general dislike towards the French also helped.

And because Maradona played before a large chunk of the people (I) talk football with were watching football.
