I'm not aggro. Just because a post doesn't have a emoticon, doesn't mean someone is mad. I haven't attacked you, so stop acting all PSP saying "Torres is gone" as some passive aggressive attempt to get at me.

Unless you consider being referred to Captain Obvious is an attack. Then I apologize.
Sure all that aside, you haven't shown me why i was talking out of my ass regarding Suarez or Liverpool not being the ideal club for young players.

Why do you assume Torres gives a damn about Pool? He'll look after his own interests before the clubs like every footballer does.
Nothing wrong with that, but he had the whole damn transfer window and the deal accelerated at the last two or three days? Maybe the short period of time that Liverpool had for finding a replacement is related to signing Carroll for such an amount. I'm just suprised why he didnt move in the summer instead if this was his intention.

You didn't ask me to.

As for saying Liverpool is not an ideal club for young players I beg to differ. While our academy has been disappointing we aren't any worse than may of the major clubs in the world. Bar Barcelona. The best clubs to nurture young talent are generally in the mid table and lower leagues where the young players have less pressure and the opportunity to play often before moving to a large club.

However, Liverpool has had success with development of young players even though most of them were not academy projects. Aside from the obvious choice in Gerrard and Carragher, there are Daniel Agger, Pepe Reina, and Lucas that have actually developed quite nicely. In addition the emergence of Martin Kelly this year has signaled that perhaps the Academy is back on track especially with players like Pacheco, Fernando Suso, Jack Robinson all training with the first team and receiving bench call ups.

As for Suarez, you were calling him a diver. He probably is, but demand more respect for my new number 7.

No shit it was a panic buy. We didn't plan out the fact that the dickless Spaniard would turn in a transfer request 3 days before the close of the window. No one plans for that. Captain Obvious.

I'm not a fan of Carroll, but I can't help but thing any last minute replacement would have cost us a fortune with clubs knowing that we were about to be paid 50 million for Torres. Carroll's probably worth 17 - 18 million at the most, the rest was the price of last minute business and the "English tax". The way I see it... "it is what it is".

I would imagine that if we had gone for someone like Benzema the price would have been much higher. The owners realize we can't afford to just write the season off and the purchase, though expensive, shows intent to rebuild the squad. With the sale of Torres and Babel we only had a net spend of 2 million pounds. Which is our first net spend in a long time.

As for "bringing in more attackers", we have Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt, N'Gog, Pacheco plus some promising youth in the academy so I doubt we'll be making a major acquisition in the striker position any time soon. We're more likely to invest in wide players, a center back, and a left back in the future.

There's always a risk when delving into the transfer market.
Amauri wouldn't. :eyebrows:
