I suspect the dubious goals panel will be taking that goal from Suarez, the defender clearly kicked it on to the post. Suarez's shot was on target but kicked off target by the defender, as the post is not considered on target. Own goal IMO. Impressive display from Suarez.

I haven't seen the goal, just going by what I read in the press. You're probably right, thanks for clearing it up.

Wenger on Song's injury: "He was kicked, I think it was by Koscielny, he knocks out everybody in our team!

Szczesny(spelling?) on Fabianski's injury: "I was warming Fabian [Lukasz Fabianski] up before the game with Manchester City and I took a very powerful shot," Szczesny said.

"He made a beautiful save but also got an injury. I didn't do it on purpose, I was just doing my job.

"I feel stupid about it. I even told him it would have been better if he didn't save that shot.I take advantage of my team-mate's misfortunes."

:howler:
Manuel Almunia wouldn't have:wink:

So a shot that goes in off the post is not considered a shot on target?

Probably is because it went in, but a shot that hits the post and doesn't go in is not on target. Bit of a grey area when a defender hits it off his own post, I suppose that's why they have a dubious goals panel.

For a striker to claim a goal that hits off a defender the shot has to be on target, which his shot was, but the defender hitting it off the post(which is off target) could negate that aspect, IMO it should be an own goal but maybe those in the know will let Suarez keep it.

What's up with your avatar man?

Correct, I drop in here from time to time. Usually to read, sometimes to post.

the ball was going ON TARGET when it left Suarez boot,i think this is the main point. if it was going wide and the defender sclaffed it onto the post and in then it would be an OG but since his effort was heading into an empty net it's kind of harsh to try and take it away from him
