Simply put, Liverpool is not the ideal club for a young player to develop. I don't see Carroll justifying his price tag, Suarez on the other has shown that he'll do anything to ensure that his team wins. So pool fans can expect to get a lot more freekicks & penalties with the odd handball courtesy of Suarez.:D

I think Suarez has more about him than mentally weak players like Kezman and Afonso Alves, he's a winner (by any means), works hard and is a bit nasty. I'm not convinced England is the best place for him though.

For Carroll to succeed, he'd need a secure team to achieve that along with a coach that believes in him. What happens when Liverpool bring in more attackers? As i said regarding the price tag, it was a panic buy imo.
No shit it was a panic buy. We didn't plan out the fact that the dickless Spaniard would turn in a transfer request 3 days before the close of the window. No one plans for that. Captain Obvious.

I'm not a fan of Carroll, but I can't help but think any last minute replacement would have cost us a fortune with clubs knowing that we were about to be paid 50 million for Torres. Carroll's probably worth 17 - 18 million at the most, the rest was the price of last minute business and the "English tax". The way I see it... "it is what it is".

I would imagine that if we had gone for someone like Benzema the price would have been much higher. The owners realize we can't afford to just write the season off and the purchase, though expensive, shows intent to rebuild the squad. With the sale of Torres and Babel we only had a net spend of 2 million pounds. Which is our first net spend in a long time.

As for "bringing in more attackers", we have Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt, N'Gog, Pacheco plus some promising youth in the academy so I doubt we'll be making a major acquisition in the striker position any time soon. We're more likely to invest in wide players, a center back, and a left back in the future.

There's always a risk when delving into the transfer market.

Why did he asked for a transfer request anyway? It's not like he's going to win a title with Chelsea this year or he got a once in a lifetime oppertunity?

He said he wanted out for a long time. My guess is he saw an opportunity and jumped at it. I would have rather he made up is mind a bit earlier.

He could win the Champions League, Cup final this year, then the league next year. It's a good move for him, but it pretty much undermines his whole persona he had at Liverpool.

Maybe he see's Chelsea more ambitious than Liverpool.
I think that's obvious. And the money probably doesn't hurt either.

Could you rephrase your question?
You said that "Liverpool isn't a place for young players to develop" and you made a snide comment about Suarez. I said you were talking out of your ass. Which you were, since you have no basis to make either statement.

I wasn't referring to Torres when I replied.

Chelsea will be fighting with Citeh for the 3rd spot while Arsenal and ManUre are title contenders. I don't understand why this window was the one to go? CL? Could've gone in the summer, probably better for Pool, if they had more time they could find a worthy replacement and not fucking Carroll for that price. Its not like his starting spot was in danger when Suarez was signed.

I said Liverpool isn't the ideal club for a young player to develop. I didn't make a snide comment about Suarez, that's just the way he is. He'll win at any cost, i've seen it when he played in the eredivisie & CL for Ajax & need i remind you about his theatrics during the 2010 WC?

You're the one getting aggro, notice how i haven't attacked you? Feel free to fling the poo, it won't bring Torres back.

I'm not aggro. Just because a post doesn't have a emoticon, doesn't mean someone is mad. I haven't attacked you, so stop acting all PSP saying "Torres is gone" as some passive aggressive attempt to get at me.

Unless you consider being referred to Captain Obvious is an attack. Then I apologize.
