Keep that up, and this forum won't be big enough for you to hide! :D

He's always been my favourite, because of his style. Such flair. It's how the Dutch like them best usually. I just hope he gets to play. Would be nice to see him in action in the EPL to be fair.

On a different note: I was thinking, Liverpool looks pretty good now:

Poulsen-Meireles
Kuyt-Gerrard-Cole
Torres

If you were to play like that, that is. I like it. Can Cole play on the left?
damn lucky of Spurs getting VDV for such a cheap price, now we shall see him doing great in EPL..

and for liverpool, yes they dont look half bad,Cole can play on the left..

Since you posted at the same time, I'm assuming you didn't see my last post. I only just realised they play 4-4-2, I never even thought about that. He'll have to play support striker, as he won't be fielded next to Modric.

I really hope Redknapp doesn't intend using him as a backup for Modric though, that would be fucked up. I'd swim to England and slap some sense into the man, if that's the case. I want to see Rafael play. :andy2:
You assumed right, i didn't see your post.

I think he'll probably be used more as a second striker or something like that. Oh and Modric >> VDV :p

He has at times. Though I don't think he prefers it.

I think it's a silly formation though. Great looking on paper, except one very important thing.

All of those players in the attacking midfield move to the center of the field. It happened against Arsenal and WBA and it will happen against other teams. It's like we choke off our own attack by running it to the strength of our opponents.

We need a proper winger or someone willing to play an outside game with occasional diving in.

Cole is a "natural" left winger if my memory serves me right.

Though he played for us in almost every midfield position during our years of inestability. He can play there and do good, as far as prefering it, i dunno.

For England he also has played as LW.

He can play in either wing but he prefers to drift to the center, so he's not your kind of winger if you want to play an outside game.

He's more of a winger for a 4-3-3 like when he played for us than for a 4-4-2 though.

He's originally an attacking mid though, he's always played in the center before. One of the reasons he moved to Liverpool was because he got guarantees that he'd be played in his preferred position

I'd expect the midfield to be....

Left--------------------------------Right

Jovanovic(Cole/Kuyt)---------Cole(Gerrard)-------Kuyt(Maxi)

-----------------------Gerrard(Meireles/Lucas)----------Meireles(Poulsen/Lucas)

I'm sure the players will switch around throughout the season and occasionally we'll be deeper in the midfield with maybe two players in front of the defense.

I have absolutely no idea what Harry's plan is with this move. I don't see any other reason for it, except it being a bargain price for a class player.

----------Defoe
--VDV

Bale--Modric-Huddle-Lennon

That's the only way to incorporate all of them. Though that means no Crouch and from what I've seen so far this season(2 games against Young Boys :p ), they're basing their whole play on long balls for Crouch to lay down. They're really skipping the midfield, which sucks. Hopefully that was just a tactical decision for the CL qualifiers because Tottenham have the players to play some real football. Especially with VDV in the mix as well.

As for Modric>VDV...that's actually a mindfuck, even for me. :D I really like VDV, real class player, if it weren't for injuries and some bad career decisions(Real Madrid), I can only imagine what would have become of him.

Ya Tottenham tend to play that way whenever they have Crouch in the team. Though they have played most games in the league without him and have played some nice football. I don't think he depends completely on Crouch, as he doesn't always start him. But when he does start, you have a feeling that the Spuds players rely on him completely and start playing route one football.

Yeah and that's really frustrating, especially when you see the players they got. Last year, I've seen a lot of games from Spurs and they really know how to play. I'm really interested to see them lineup with VDV supporting Defoe...could do wonders.

Though, I see the deal is not official yet as the EPL is gonna make the decision whether the deal went through on time.
