Manchester United New Boy Bebe: Sir Alex Ferguson Made Me Cut My Dreadlocks

Sir Alex Ferguson told Manchester United new boy Bebe to have a close shave if he wanted to avoid the hair dryer treatment.

Bebe, 20, was pictured with flowing dreadlocks after he was snapped up by United for £7.4 million last month. Upon his unveiling at the club, the long locks had made way for a crew cut.

Speaking to A Bola as he prepared to make his Portugal under-21 bow against England on Friday, Bebe revealed the Scot had ordered him to the barbers.

He said: "I am working hard, everyone has helped me a lot.

"I have adapted well, given the short time I have been there.

"The older ones help me a lot."

"Did Ferguson make me cut my hair? More or less ... " the ex-Vitoria attacker smiled.

When Fergie was at Aberdeen, he banned young players from getting perms.

One kid did it anyway and Fergie forced him to wear a balaclava in training until the kid cut his hair.

Arsenal Offer Contract To Japanese Rising Star Ryo Miyaichi - Report

Arsenal have offered a five-year contract to Japanese youth star Ryo Miyaichi despite the winger nursing a broken leg, according to Yomiuri Shimbun.

Miyaichi, 17, shone in a trial match against Boreham Wood last month and the Gunners are understood to have beaten Ajax, Cologne and Milan to his signature. While on trial with Ajax, he picked up the injury which is expected to sideline him for several months but this has not put off Arsene Wenger.

The Japan under-19 international is expected to tie up the deal on December 14 when he turns 18. At six feet tall and blessed with pace and technique, he has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo by the media in his homeland

He's big noise in Japan, been tearing up the uni level, but this is a big step. I thought his chance had gone for a while when he broke his leg to be honest.
