A little aside for this thread, I was just reading that the last time Liverpool conceded 5 goals in a league game was Coventry 5-1 Liverpool in 1992. I remember this game distinctly even though I was only 9 years old because on the way back home my dad was absolutely buzzing that we had smashed Liverpool, they were a massive club at the time off the back of all their European success. He also absolutely hated them.
Liverpool themselves were in-between eras at the time. The old 80s stars had mostly retired with only a few left hanging around, they had the likes of David James, Robbie Fowler, Steve McMananananananaman, Rob Jones and Jamie Redknapp coming through the youth system.

I'd argue that you need to give a lot more room to Markovic, Lallana, Moreno and Can, by virtue of their talent and age. You can't rubbish those players so early on. Pretty grim reading anyway, if you are a Liverpool fan. The point being whether they will trust this guy to spend another load of their money, in a vital time for the club.

The transfer committee is retarded. Nothing like the manager coming out and saying "We absolutely have no interest in Balotelli". The next day "Hey guys, guess we bought Balotelli".
As for Brendan, in retrospect I wonder how things would have turned out if we had force him to work under an experience DOF like LVG as was the original plan. The guy has some skills in player development and man management but is way too naive with way too much ego (refusal to sign a defensive coach, players constantly out of position, Lallan the lone forward against Stoke, it goes on) for a guy twice sacked by Championship clubs. I think that right now the club is probably the 5th best in the league on paper and when firing on all cylinders, so finishing 6th is not surprising. It is however a disappointment.
Our goal should be consistently finishing in the top four and to do that I believe we need a more experienced manager, one with some star power to attract those top players we've been missing out on and develop the young talent that we've collected over the last few years.
Also, scrap the fucking transfer committee.
