I have to admit, this should be one of the better EPL seasons to watch. Chelsea, Manu and Man City are all serious contenders with new coaches.

Compare that with other leagues where PSG, Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are clear favorites.

Tottenham will be the new Manchester City after this Bale deal. I think the rest of their starting XI is not worth the transfer fee of Bale. They can start building a world class team with that money. I think Bale is world class, don't get me wrong, but over EU100m!? Man, I would be rubbing my hands together if I was a Tottenham fan.

They'll obviously have a stronger team on paper, it's just how they gel.

nah, that would be far from their worst transfer, because Bale is actually a very good player and could make them a better team. they'll recover big part of the investment through marketing the new signing anyway. it's not like they'll spend the money and then live on bread and water for three summers.

I'm not a huge fan of Tottenham's first move being 35M for Willian. I mean, Anzi has zero leverage and they get 35M? Marotta would get Willian for a loan + option FFS.

Willian is amazing, trust me
I don't think that's the point.

Anzhi are desperate to sell, so why haven't Spurs been able to negotiate a lower fee than Anzhi paid for him?

Have other clubs shown a strong enough interest to keep the price up?

They need to get in the champions league before the top players start coming. imo.
