The agent of Mohammed Sissoko has said that the midfielder is poised to complete his move to Everton.

Jose Segui revealed that an €8 million (£5 million) fee has been agreed between the two sides and that the finishing touches are now being put to the transfer.

The 20-year-old Mali international is expected to fly to Merseyside for a medical in the near future before sealing his switch to Goodison Park.

"The transfer of Sissoko to Everton is practically finalised," agent Jose Segui told skysports.com.

"There are only some small details to resolve and then the medical of the player."

Segui also revealed that there would be no 'buy-back' clause in the transfer and dismissed claims that Liverpool had made a late bid to hijack the deal.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez signed Sissoko for Valencia from Auxerre in the summer of 2003 and remains a fan of the powerful midfielder who has drawn comparisons with Patrick Vieira.

However, Segui insists Benitez has not jumped in with a late offer to lure the player to Anfield.

"Liverpool and Benitez have asked about the player's situation in the past, but have not made a proposition," he continued.

Sissoko has made over 50 appearances since arriving at the Mestalla, but Segui confirmed new Valencia boss Quique Flores had given the green light to the move as he did not consider him part of his long-term plans.

"The decision to allow Sissoko to leave is down to the new coach," he added.

"He (Sissoko) did not enter in his plans for next season."

Birmingham have finally agreed a deal to sign striker Walter Pandiani.

The Uruguayan hit-man spent the second half of last season on loan at St Andrews and impressed notching four goals in 14 appearances.

Blues boss Steve Bruce was keen to complete a permanent deal to land the 28-year-old, but the Premiership side could not settle on a fee with Deportivo La Coruna.

Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan revealed last month he had all but given up hope of signing the striker, but persistence finally appears to have paid off for the Midlanders.

After several hours of negotiations between Depor president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro and Pandiani's agent Eugenio Botas, a €4.2 million (£2.8 million) fee has been thrashed out.

It is understood Birmingham are ready to meet the figure while Spanish outfit Real Zaragoza have dropped out of the race.

Pandiani also received offers from Germany and Turkey but rejected those moves and should now sign a four-year deal at St Andrews.

The South American made it clear he did not want to return to Depor after falling out with former boss Javier Irureta and made several outspoken attacks on the Galician outfit during his time in England last season.

I hear Sevilla are accusing Arsenal of "tapping up" Baptista, and that Tottenham have supposedly made a bid of 12.5 million pounds for him as well. Also, both Juventus and Arsenal are denying that any meeting to discuss the sale of Vieira was ever held between them, and that Luciano Moggi's trip to London was to discuss "other players" and he only met Arsene Wenger because they are both old friends.

Vieira's sale is good for Roy Keane though :D...no more fighting in tunnels:D

Fabregas is a promising youngster,but lets face it he cant defend if his life depended on it.

Ovbiously, it's a big blow for us, but I'm glad it's finally over. For four seasons running, we've had to deal with speculation about our captain's future, and now we can at least be sure of our team for next season. Besides, when we started last season, with Fabregas and Gilberto, we played very well. When Vieira was around, his form was patchy. We'll never forget his contributions to the club, but it's time to move on for him and us. If Juventus come to play Arsenal at Highbury, Paddy should get a standing ovation.

@madlawyer & fred weasley: Do you feel that Gilberto, Fabregas and Flamini have what it takes to get the job done consistently or do Arsenal need to go into the market for a defensive midfielder?

Gilberto is a quality player and we all know how talented young Fabregas is, but can they fill the void that Vieira will leave? His form wasn't excellent last season but in the last three or four years his presence at the heart of the Arsenal midfield has been tremendous.

They are going for Jenas, which is a hell of a good deal.

Jenas is a great young player, 23 now I think. But he is far too good for Newcastle.

Everton look set to strengthen their squad with two more Serie A purchases. They've already completed the signing of Udinese's Per Kroldrup and seem to have agreed to sign Francesco Coco from Inter and Matteo Ferrari of Roma.

Internazionale defender Francesco Coco will play for Everton next season, after reportedly agreeing a deal.

Stories in Italy suggest that Coco was in Liverpool on Friday where significant steps were taken regarding a switch.

Coco is set to leave the San Siro, either on loan or on a permanent basis, after struggling with form and injury for some period of time.

He was once named ‘The New Paolo Maldini’ but has failed to live up to that billing at Milan, Barcelona and Inter.

Coco doesn’t feature in boss Roberto Mancini’s plans and a summer exit is almost certain at this stage.

Bolton were also keen on the former Italian international, who appeared at the 2002 World Cup, but Everton are in pole position.

The prospect of playing Champions’ League football next term suits Coco and a deal could be finalised sometime next week.

Matteo Ferrari is on the verge of leaving Roma for Premiership side Everton, says the defender’s agent.

The Italian international stopper has been associated with the Liverpool outfit and a move is imminent.

"It is just a matter of time for Everton," Giovanni Corci told the Radio Incontro network on Saturday afternoon. "There was a meeting between the two clubs yesterday."

The Giallorossi want to get rid of the defender after a nightmare first campaign in the capital since his switch from Parma a year ago.

"Matteo would never want to leave Roma and he is very eager to prove himself," continued Corci.

"He has made mistakes on the field of play but he is still a very good player, otherwise he wouldn’t have been Parma captain at just 23."

Ferrari was also linked with a move to Fiorentina, who have now appointed former Parma boss Cesare Prandelli.

"Between Everton and Fiorentina, the Viola would be a better option for him," continued his representative.

"At least that way he would be able to stay in Italy even if it is Matteo’s desire to continue his career with Roma."

Everton are also being strongly associated with Inter’s Italian full-back Francesco Coco.
