Rus, when it comes to finding faults, always focus on the root cause and not the symptoms. Giaccherini's failure to track fiberglass was the symptom. It was the result of poor defensive decisions by DDR and Chiellini. Fixing their movements and decision-making will prevent such situations in the future. Trying to fix the symptom will result in nothing.

Because you can't your whole point is that it was De Rossi Mistake or Chiellini or it was good goal bla bla bla it's not working - if you are playin LWB/LM and ur opponent is near you and about to run in to ur box you should mark him instead of watchin' for the ball owner or waitin' will ur defence kick the ball away or not
It was both.

Giaccherini should have tracked the run better (though it's not that easy to do as a player who, remember, was very much a forward until this season).

However, the space the pass was played into shouldn't exist when you play three CBs. De Rossi should have been in a position to cover behind Chiellini when he stepped out to close Silva (but that is also a tough situation to read quickly enough when you aren't a natural defender).

But my point is that Giaccherini was put into that situation as a consequence of the space that opened up due to Chiellini trying to close down Silva. Since this opening up of space created the opportunity for Fiberglass to make that run, the blame should lie on them rather than Giaccherini.

If he was going to cover the run he would have had to known Chiellini was definitely going to step up from the defense to lose its shape. The move happened so quickly and accurately there wasn't much he could have done.

Rus i usually agree with your points, but, this time i don't.
The space opened up because of the defender's error, they were playing with 3 CB ffs, how is, Giaccherini, who was playing Lwb, NOT LB, supposed to track that deep into the heart of Italy defense to cover Fabregas, who remember, was playing as a false 9.
Even Left backs don't go that deep behind the CB let alone a winger.
I get what you're saying, since he was there he might have some responsibility since he might have had to follow Fab, but the only reason Fab had space to run to and get the ball was that, De Rossi, or Chiellini, not sure which one, opened up so much space in front of the goal.

Did u saw this picture? Fabregas is near Giac so Giac should follow him isn't it?! But look at him - he is not watchin' at fabregas and fabregas will pass him in the next 2 seconds!Look at defence - Maggio - De Rossi - Chiellini - Giaccherini, it's 4man defence since bonucci moved forward

And now it was to late - bonucci is coming back at his position and Chellini moved forward to face Silva, Fabregas ran into empty zone and scored
