Andy and Fred are correct that in theory since illegal immigrants are indeed illegally in a certain country that they do not share the benefit of that nation's laws.

However, that really does nothing to address the issue. It also doesn't stop international organizations from trying to enforce human rights law, as they would for a refugee or exiled person which exist in an almost similarly exact plight.

Anywho, I think we all know the answer to the immigration issue. And it doesn't include building great walls or mass executions in the Arizona desert.

What is interesting about this sentiment? There are nuts in every debate who are willing to take up extreme measures regardless of the potentially cruel and devastating effects of their actions.

I have to admit to only half-heartedly following the story, but I got the impression that the proposed law in Arizona had quite a bit of support. Not enough in the end, sure, but politicians are very conscious of image, so that didn't surprise me.

It may have had more support there. To be fair I live in an area where most people are sympathetic to illegals so I'm not exposed to an accurate representation of the average American mentality.

I don't think the answer is allowing illegal immigrants to stay if they get here. That simply promotes more illegal immigration.

I had no opinion on the issue until Seven wrote a post in which he mentioned human rights. Which was so to say rebuffed. Resulting from which I didn't know what had been implied, therefore I brought it up myself.

Well when you read his sentence "illegal immigrants have no rights" literally, that is what that sentence means. But we all know thats not what Andy meant, and we all know that, so why nitpick on linguistics?

What's the answer?

Stopping companies from hiring via either raising fines, increasing enforcement, etc. I've heard suggestions that companies found frequently hiring undocumented workers should lose certain tax breaks. That's not a bad suggestion. There are a number of things we can do, but we don't.

What most people realize is that illegal immigration isn't some steady stream of people crossing the US border 24/7. It's very much an organized business these days from the guys in Mexico to the guys on our side everyone gets a cut.

Some corporations even legally bring workers into the country buy purchasing month long work visas and just not returning the workers back to whatever country they came from.

You can hate on spics til your blue in the face, but the truth it they aren't the entire problem. It's more of the system failure these days.
