true!

thats also the biggest problem to be honest deneb, i mean just bec its strategic for other powers the people get messed up in return!??! i mean when will things change then considering egypt will remain strategic for a long time, this wont change due to where egypt is located and its impact even if negative lately.
you dont always have to hit a homerun, mobilize people yes but to make small vistories over time as opposed to all out revolution.

as a concept i agree with u but between this and what actually happens is sth totally different for example.

people in this strike are asking for a reduction in the prices of essential products that have rocketed. now usually when such a request is demanded the government increases the wages but in the same time keep or increase the prices so the increment in wages that yr average egyptain gets is of zero value bec the expenses are almost the same if not more.

a second request is the emergency law that we've been living under for the past 30 years!! no matter how many times people demand that this law be removed nothing is even considered and to this day it remains active.

i do understand the points u have about an all out revolution not being the optimum choice considering it more than often turns into one big mess between removing the current party and substituting it with no guarntee the new government will be any better, but as u can see specially with how it works over here they can convince people at least temp that there changes will be considered until it all dies out and nothing will change.

u know deneb sth that in any other country will cause an up rise is how a person can run for president, its almost impossible to do that bec there are a shit load of regulations a candidate has to go thru before being eligible i,e its tailor maid for the current system in power.

finally let me tell u the hypocritical bit, this year considering either mubarak has to run or his son the ndp who they r the heads too have a campaign that promises better life etc etc as if the past 30 years were not enough for them to make that happen, it also kind of makes u wonder why the next 6 years will be any different from the past 30!!

i'm not sure if u got what i'm trying to explain to u or the main point i'm trying to pass out to u bec i'm not as good as naggar, hist, or rebel when it comes to discussing politics in detail and how the entire system works, but i seriously hope u can get a picture of what its like and why these people are out there ( they have hit rock bottom ages ago)

"Our assessment is that the Egyptian government is stable and is looking for ways to respond to the legitimate needs and interests of the Egyptian people," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters in Washington.

Actually the government said that the requests of the protests are unrealistic

it's unrealistic to ask for better living conditions, jobs, cancelling the emergency law, democracy and all the things ahmed mentioned
then they called it terrorism and started attacking the protestors violently until this moment

latest: protestors regrouping in side roads and heading back to tahrir square

It was really rough here to in sidi gaber and cleopatra, nothing happened at all where i live, but I didn't expect it at all to be this big, I underestimated the abilities of Egyptians!!
I've been studying oral surgery all day for thrus. exam but I'm going tomorrow for sure isa, if we survive the night we'll win this, specially if suzan and gamal really fled, that shows fear and weakness
