I was reading another site and someone mentioned that Luiz needs a strong DM next to him. Not sure why that would be the case since he usually played with Tielemans, who I suppose would be in a similar mold of a player to Fagioli. So perhaps those two together would work, along with Koop in front of them.

Hopefully the plan is that Luiz would be the Rabiot replacement and not secondary option to Koopmeiners.
He needs DM alongside him. Aston Villa with Kamara before Feb is different with Aston Villa without him. After Kamara injury, Aston Villa record in Premier League was 6 Wins - 4 Draws - 4 Loses while conceding 29 goals in 14 matches which means 2 goals per match.

They also lost to Chelsea 3-1 in FA Cup. Won 2-1 and lost 2-1 against Lille in Europa League before eliminated by Olympiakos losing both matches 0-2 and 2-4.

Some of their fans also slash Luiz for his bad performance in their last several matches of 2023/2024 season. And their win against Arsenal which made Arsenal lost their Premier League title was when Douglas Luiz on the bench.

I believe there also plan within Villa other than FFP or PSR rule. They already have Tielemans that have quite same characteristic as CM. While Emery plays Tielemans sometimes as SS behind Watkins when he played both Luiz and Tielemans. With McKennie he can get versatile player that can suit Emery high pressing game, can play as mobile CM that support Watkins or defend, and can also play as Kamara cover as mobile DM. This means Luiz is expendable

Iling Jr. also provide them with u21 English player that can play as LB or LM.

Great analysis, sounds like Villa will be very happy after robbing us. We're giving 2 players who have been underwhelming, but are sometimes good with big money for 1 player who is good, but can be underwhelming. Bullshit move.

Hmm, now that you mention it, maybe this isn't such a great move after all.

He is very good player, don't be mistaken about it. He is an engine holding DM and excellent passer with technique.

But the thing is even if he is very good, he is not a 65-70m level player. If we not paying that outright and doing swaps, then it's OK.

But If it was outright purchase it would be highly excessive. And you can find similar level mids for better prices.

But as a player he is quite dynamic in the combo of his physicality, tackling, technique and passing. Defenitely will he quality addition even if overpriced.

I think he’ll do fine at Juve. Enjoy the excitement.

I'm really excited about this signing, brilliant player, surprised that city actually didn't buy him back. Brilliant deal, yes sad to see iling go but Douglas Luiz is a massive upgrade to our midfield already

By the way he has the worst hair in FC24.

Douglas Luiz is one step away to Juventus. In the deal will be included McKennie and Iling Jr on a permanent deal + a compensation fee around €15-18M. [Nico Schira]

So the price keeps getting lower. I like it if true.

I read that Chelsea are close to signing Duran from Villa too, so watch that fee go back up now they don't desperately need to sell.
