Douglas Costa injury in Brazil
By Football Italia staff

Juventus winger Douglas Costa has a thigh injury, but at the moment should not be at risk for Brazil’s World Cup squad, it was announced.

The Selecao are beginning work for the tournament in Russia next month.

In a Press conference, CBF chief medic Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed Douglas Costa had arrived “complaining of pain at the back of his thigh.

“We performed tests and found a slight injury, so will work separately in training for a few days. He may well miss the first friendly, but we don’t expect him to be at risk for the World Cup.”

Man Utd €85m for Douglas Costa | Football Italia

Manchester United are prepared to pay €85m to prise Brazilian winger Douglas Costa away from Juventus, it’s reported.

After The Sun suggested Jose Mourinho had set his sights on the former Bayern Munich talent, now the Corriere dello Sport newspaper points to a massive offer.

The bid is believed to be in the region of €85m (approximately £75m), effectively doubling the €46m paid to sign him from Bayern a year ago.

The cost of that operation was spread out with a €6m payment to take him on loan and agreement to add another €40m this summer.

Douglas Costa has been a sensation at Juve with six goals and 14 assists in 47 competitive games.

His extraordinary pace and crossing skills made him a fan favourite and he was instrumental in a seventh consecutive Scudetto.

Exclusive: Juventus want to keep €80m-rated winger amid Man City links | Calciomercato.com

Amid rumours linking Douglas Costa with a move this summer, Juventus are making their intentions clear, as they want to keep the Brazilian.
The Bianconeri will redeem the winger from Bayern Munich to keep him for next season. In other words, Costa is considered unsellable by the club, although at Juve it seems no one can be considered this, as their transfer strategy is very lenient towards the player's will

With that said, there is concrete interest from the Premier League, more specifically Manchester City. Their manager, Pep Guardiola, has reportedly set his sights on the player ahead of next season. In fact, the English side would be ready to offer Juve around €80m for the winger, while handing a wealthy contract proposal to Douglas Costa.

However, as of now, the Brazilian is not for sale, although Juventus would certainly have to consider such a high offer, should it arrive.
