Official: Don reign is over

Roberto Donadoni is no longer Italy’s Coach after today’s meeting with the Italian Football Federation.

The former Livorno Coach came up short at Euro 2008 and a penalty shoot-out defeat against Spain in the quarter-finals brought the curtain down on his tenure.

Donadoni’s contract stated that his reign would end if there wasn’t a mutual agreement with the Italian Football Federation for him to continue until the expiration date in 2010.

And it was confirmed this afternoon that the FIGC no longer wanted him to lead the national side.

“The Italian Football Federation would like to confirm that Donadoni’s contract has been allowed to expire,” a statement read.

“President Abete met Donadoni today in the FIGC’s offices and during the course of the meeting they reviewed the work done over the last two years and the European Championships.

“While stressing his sincere respect for Donadoni on a personal level and appreciating his hard work and professional conduct, the President informed the Coach that the FIGC didn’t intend to continue his contract.”

The Italian media are convinced that Marcello Lippi has already agreed to return to the post and finalised terms last night in Rome.

the real problem as some of you pointed out is there was no "reign", as far as reigns go his was worse than Henry VI
Henry IV was great man, he taught us that if a ho ain't good enough give her the chop or if things dont go your way create your own church
