    He won't acheive anything...

    Mark my words.
The % of a coach not achieving anything in the World Cup is really high. So I don't think it's that hard to predict this....He has already won the World Cup.

IMO, If he'll achieve the Semi's with the Azzurri. Then thats an achievement for me.

Marcello Lippi back as Italy's Manager. The best of luck, Coach

Two years after winning the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Marcello Lippi is back as Italy's Manager. Four days after Italy bowed out of Euro 2008, the Italian Football Federation decided to replace Roberto Donadoni and asked the Viareggio-born manager to come back.

The best of luck from all of us here at Juventus to Claudio Lippi, who has won so much at the Club.

You can send your own messages to the newly appointed Manager on the JuventusMember website

i'm disappointed in Lippi tbh, would've wanted him to challenge himself with another team outside of Italy or another national team. It looks like he was always waiting for the demise of Donadoni so he can take over.

I'm very skeptical of a move like this. Lippi really has nothing to prove with the Nazionale, and while I have no doubt that he's got the werewithal to create a solid unit - it is highly unlikely that even he as coach can guide Italy to a second consecutive World Cup championship. Why he'd like to tarnish such an impeccable record is beyond me. If he really wanted to be with the Azzurri, he should've stayed in charge till the Euros to complete a natural cycle, rather than be coach in this stop start fashion. Also I dont know what nucleus he intends to rely on from 2006, because quite honestly, the only certainties from that squad seem to be Daniele De Rossi, Buffon and Pirlo, as things stand anyway. I dont know how much hunger he can introduce in the squad, and god forbid, the Azzurri fail miserably, Marcello will have surely deserved better. Carlo Ancelotti would've been a much, much better option at this point in time, for better or worse.

yea he shouldn't have returned...one should always try to quit at the top, and u can't really repeat a WC triumph in modern football...FIGC just hit the panic button and wanted to appease the people in this case...I would have been much happier if Carlo Ancelotti had been made NC

I agree, I think he took the job to a degree out of boredom and lack of other suitable alternatives considering he didn't want to move abroad.. The man is a legend no doubt but i think we needed a new man with fresh ideas, given that man wasn't Donadoni but we didnt need to go back to Lippi

Probably. But winning the World Cup for the 2nd consecutive time is something coaches would be dreaming for.

History will officially crown Lippi as the best Coach ever to come into football world if he'll achieve that.

Rabbijaan the fact that Lippi is now the coach of Italy is more circumstantial than anything else to be honest. If the Juve or Barca or Madrid or perhaps even Milan benches were vacant, I dont think Lippi would've returned to the Azzurri. When you win the World Cup once, anything less in the proceeding World Cup will be considered a failure. And Lippi at this point, seems to be looking for a comfort zone more than anything else.
