We would have had €25m less cash than what we have now, ignoring installment payments, that would have been a very stupid move. Imo there is no doubt Juve values his talent and this is the best solution Juve could have taken under the circumstances.
we value him so much, we brought zaza back instead, that alone should settle it.

I still don't see how this is any different to the Zaza situation. Obviously we would have preferred to have him now, but he probably wants more game time. Now we can spend €15m elsewhere (or save it) and he gets valuable playing time in a season before euro 2016.

all that is possible by not bringing zaza back, i dont get why that is so hard to understand

Still think this is effectively the same deal we made with Sass for Zaza. IMO, we were verbally obligated/committed to buy Zaza, I think that was the deal from the time we sold our half to Sass. These guys are largely working the books with these transactions -- and clearly, Berardi and his agent required a certain number of minutes for the player this year, like B_Aus said, Euro 16 is at the top of his list.

I'm not worried about this one, not reading into the Berardi doesn't like us speculation.

We do need another forward who can create a bit for himself and those around him, though. That's gotta happen.

thats one big assumption, but the even bigger assumption is that sassuolo would feel obligated to sell us berardi when they can get more elsewhere

I'm just asking you to explain how us not getting him this season is not adequately satisfied by the reasons provided :p

It is a big assumption, but I do think the two deals are linked. We're dealing with young Internationals, I think Juve really wants both of these guys to help keep that Italian identity intact.

The assumption about Berardi is made based on the fact that we just sold his half for 10M euros. You don't actually think Beppe only rates him at 20M, do you? Given what he's produced so far, I really don't think so.

We'll see, brother, we'll see. We've been fairly good for Sassuolo, and there's more where that came from.

we dont bring zaza back, berardi stays there for a year accomplishes the same

Yeah, I definitely feel that. I'm trying to stay positive about it, cause otherwise it really doesn't make sense to me. :p

I can't imagine that we're going to just let this guy walk for 10M, that would be indefensible.

The thing is that if we're not going to eventually be getting Berardi on a permanent basis, then what would be the point of having any type of feeder relationship with Sassuolo? If we don't get the young studs they're developing in committee with us, there's no point in the relationship. Berardi couldn't have done much more to impress, and Allegri is on record as an admirer.

And if there's no point having a feeder relationship with Sassuolo, than surely Beppe could have gone so far as to take Sassuolo to envelopes -- if need be. Highly doubt they have 15-20M to pony up for the player's half if we don't buy Zaza -- and the Berardi deal was on a timeline because the co-own had to be resolved, so they had to resolve him first, anyway. There is no doubt that somebody out there would be willing to pay at least 25-30M for Domenico, given what he's produced -- so even if he didn't want to come back, Beppe still could have redeemed his half and sold him on for a larger profit.

Or if they had outbid us in the blind auction, we still would have earned more than 10M.

To me, it seems like there has to be more to the deal.

I don't see us not getting him, I don't see Sass screwing us over. It isn't worth it for them, I don't think they'd get much more than our offer anyway. We shall see.
