oh, actually my question was wrong. i guess i was more interested in the culture of ur education. does the educational system of quebec teach, what shall we call it, a more individualistic and critical approach to learning and information? (if its something u know of)

i know the scandinavian teaching tradition emphasise on being anti-authoritarian, liberal and independent - add the odd socialistic brainwash :D - which automatically creates a critical view on religion.
It used to focus more on an individualistic and critical approach but it does not really anymore since the educational reform that has been implemented in the last few years. High school students are really not challenged anymore in that respect and pretty much cannot think for themselves. On top of that, the independentist government is trying to brainwash students by trying to implement completely biased and inaccurate independentist history.

The reform is a complete disaster.

We have a few quality universities (McGill, Université de Montreal, and Université Laval) in which critical thinking is emphasized, though.

Yes, this is definitely present. But I'm not sure I would go as far as the other things you mentioned: anti-authoritarian, liberal and independent.

At least in Norway there is a very high degree of trust in society, so people are not really terribly inquisitive to check if what they're being told is true. And I think that goes for the educational system as well, despite it being a stated goal the implementation is somewhat modest.
it might be me who went too far, when i said scandinavian - it might be danish thing. danes are very anti-authoritatian: http://rucforsk.ruc.dk/site/da/clip...re(1e18270e-94de-40ae-a1d6-fa8774eed882).html - blame the terrible generation of the "revolt" in 68

anyway, i got some company over in a bit to watch nfl. one of them is a teacher, ill see if he can point me towards some literature or studies on the matter, so its not just my gob thats babbling away :)

Such as?

I'm trying to figure out if it's only a Montreal thing.

The reform is a complete disaster.
I cannot agree more, the reform is such bullshit as it also doesn't emphasize on individual effort; I feel for the young students.

It would suit them. PQ should be nuked, they are more obsessed with national identity than they are with the welfare of the province; they are outdated.

I hate how 'souverainistes' have the urge to implement their views on others. My roommates are trying hard to convert me into being for Quebec's independence, no chance in hell. Quebec will turn to shit if that ever happens.

Truer words have never been spoken.

We're already turning to shit, without Canada we would turn into a North American version of Greece.

gates is awesome. and that goes to you Andrea, when you said without god there's no morals. well there you go.
First off those where never my words, my words were that I dont have faith in humans alone so without God I personally find it difficult. Also showing a few people who do good means nothing. Another thing its real easy to give away millions when you make billions

Ac i have to agree with the guys on this one, just bec a person chooses not to believe in god or a super power does'nt mean they have no moral values. also Huitzilopochtli its not a rule of thumb that people with religion are similar to bush :D i think doing the right thing is a decision you take via your own moral fiber, i personally feel religion plays a role but its not the only reason people do good.

Edit: sorry just read yr reply my bad.
