Yeah, I wouldn't call what NDG Tyson says stupid. He's spent his whole life researching the topics he speaks about and actually knows what he's saying. Not to mention he backs it up by facts. Does he not believe in God? No. Nothing stupid about that.

but the degrasse quote was in reference to one point, simply one point made by theists. It's not his be all end all argument for arguing against the existence of god, it's just a shot quote of him refuting one prominent argument for the existence of god. and it does it's job perfectly in that aspect, i don't see your beef with it.

like i said i dont know who this person is, so i can only comment on the quote. My beef with is it exists in teh first place as a response to bill oreilly, do you know how lame that is, and to make it even lamer quote itself doesnt have much substance, knowledge gap will keep shrinking oh really?

from an idealistic point of view i wholeheartedly agree that bill o'reilly shouldn't be worth the quote, but from a pragmatic point of view we have to accept the basis that a certain number of people (o'rly? ) accept bill o'reilly's arguments as a basis for their beliefs. as lame as bill o'reilly is, the degrasse quote does a perfectly good job at debunking a pretty simple fallacy. it's nothing more than that.
