I'll trying to make sense of it. I just don't expect to have got it right at my very first attempt.
i get that. a certain part of this thread - the radical flanks on either side of the debate - just need to integrate an ounce of uncertainty in their argumentation about the absolute truth. i'm not going to enter into the discussion about empirical data, because i fully accept that concept and it is the only thing i believe in. the empirical data thus far tells me that there is no intelligent creator, the empirical data which has been tried and tested over and over again. i just don't understand how anyone can move beyond what is bulletproof and still be certain :p

how so ? Did you reread what you wrote? No point in anything everything is empty and in vain. Your explanation probably drove some to suicide
don't worry, they'll burn in hell for it.

no, i'm pretty sure that according to the doctrines you follow people who commit suicide are pretty fucked. comparing to the rest of the shit in that book it's actually one of the more humane parts.

Damn...I should visit this thread more often. But I won't, this thread makes me pissed off.

No. Belief depends only on what is real. That's it. If you believe in something because it makes you happy, then you're a coward who is afraid of facing reality. It means your beliefs are just wishful thinking, and have no basis in reality.
Keep up the good work Sheikster. Let those cowards to hear the truth.

What do you think the purpose of our existense here is? To find out wether it is bing bang what created our universe or something else? To be productive and buy things so we contribute to our expanding ecomony to fund new reaserch?
The purpose of our existence is to breed. Why is it so fucking hard to understand.

I agree with that. But your happiness has no bearing on the truth of your beliefs. This is the point I'm trying to make, yet you just don't seem to get it!!

We have evolved from primal animals, yes. But those instincts are still a big part of our life. We eat food so that we survive and not die out of hunger. The eastern world is still reproducing, and thus still hold it significant.

An honest assessment of all life on earth will only show that there is no higher purpose. Plants, animals, rodents, insects and fishes do not have any purpose other than survival and reproduction. They can neither contemplate their purpose in life, nor give one for themselves. If so, why are they here? And why are we here too?

The truth is that nature is without purpose. The earth, stars, planets, and the entire universe is without purpose. It's all just the result of physical and chemical laws. The idea of god putting us here for a purpose is absurd. A perfect, omniscient being would have no such desires. His perfection puts an end to all purposes he may have. Men created god and religion to give us a false sense of higher purpose. A higher purpose that never was, and never will be.

The truth is you have no idea if we have purpose or no, you have no proof if there is a god or no, and you certainly don't know what his desires would be. Yours is as good as guess as mine here.

what does the that have to do with anything? I did hear of Jesus I believe he is my savior and my beliefs are on the words in RED what he said not what some man said in some doctrine. Yeshua is my lord and savior not a pope nor a priest. I am also a christian who believes paul isnt as important as some make him. Im a Christian not a paulian

how do you mean what does that have to do with anything? the bible is written by men, men who are just as prone to fault as you and me. i'm just saying that you're really sidestepping the issue that your belief is constructed on man made soil - with all it's faults and imperfections. therein lies my issue with blind belief.

That goes for you too, quire boy.

Does anywhere in bible hell is mentioned?
oh lord, how you can keep sidestepping. Alterations to the bible were introduced throughout the first 600 years after christ. all human made changes, made to fit the official policy of the church. you can't keep sidestepping this fact, and if it doesn't shake your belief just a little that some dudes altered it 1400 years ago to make it fit their ideals better, then you're just a sheep.
