No they can't, which is why in the end his ultimate goal is fruitless (as science, being limited, will never be able to discover the true nature of the world, it is only a torch and a large dark valley), but there nonetheless are interesting parts of his work along the way to his dead end failure.

Still, he is making all the wrong assumptions according to you and yet reaching interesting results, if this is not a logical fallacies I don't know what is.
