But you don't care about anonymous people anyway, Greg. Why are you better than folks who feel sympathy for lost pets? Don't be a hypocrite, now.
Because I wouldn't throw an anonymous person under the bus to save a cute anonymous puppy?

I think any rational person has sympathy to any lost loved one, whether it be human or canine.
Yes, but maybe if that's what we were actually talking about, then just maybe I'd actually think you'd have a relevant point to contribute, Andy. Until then, you may as well keep harping on the probabilities of exoplanets sustaining life. It's just as relevant.

you are mistaken! small example, when I travel to somewhere for a week, my cat feels very sad, she doesn't eat or play, and cries all the time, and don't worry, my mother loves her as much as I do, and treats her like a princess. I should record some clips, to show you how animals can love humans, I knew you wouldn't understand this, because you don't love them, didn't have the experience..
Read Erich Fromm, for example. If you think animals are capable of love, I'd argue you have no clue what love really is. Love isn't some cutesy cartoon of mentally incapacitated life forms. That's just drippy wannabe feelgood crap to try to anthropomorphize pets as if they have the same mental and emotional capabilities as humans.

Wait a minute, I never said anything like that. You got it wrong, I didn't compare my cat to victims in these clips.
Never said you didn't love humans or that you loved cats only. Just that cruelty to animals produced a visceral reaction to you while you glossed over all the other videos of humans being abused.

Uh huh, yeah. Why don't you tell us how 8 month-old children are less controllable than canines, Greg.

It's probably a good idea you're for gun control. Preservation of foot.

Easy example: Leave an 8-month-old child in a car in a Wal-Mart parking lot in the summer: go to jail. Leave a dog there, slap on the wrist.

Your cat needs to man up. I had a black cat and it used to run shit, if I forgot to feed her one day she'd drag two birds into the kitchen and tear them into pieces, then look at me like 'clean that shit up'. If I went on holiday it made no difference. You created your needy pet with too much attention.

forgot to feed her? if you treat it like that, surely won't give a shit if you are dead or not :D

My cat is Persian, a classy bitch, not the kind to bring any shit home.

Another thing I can't stand about cops over here is their trigger happiness. A few years ago a young depressed kid went into K-Mart and stole a knife, then proceeded to walk around the car park. After the police arrived they backed him into a corner and shot him twice in the chest because according to them he was close enough to have endangered their lives. Its police policy over here that if someone wielding a knife is close enough to make contact with a policeman they can fire their pistols and are trained to fire solely for the body mass. How fucking stupid do you have to be if there are three police at point-blank range versus a kid with a knife to not be able to disarm him with a shot in a less deadly place then his chest? Its poor training. If they have to hit a target from 20 meters away to get their gun then they should be able to hit one from one meter away without any trouble and it would have spared a lot of lives if they were.
As stupid as you, with your comments

I dont care if they are 1 meter or 20 away from me, we are trained to shoot for center of mass, and thats what we do

Since when is it a guarantee, that if I do what you you're saying, and aim for the kids arm, and miss (anything is possible, no matter the range), and I end up hitting someones grandmother, or a young child behind them, who has no part of this ???

Please, lets not talk about poor training, because the training is correct, lets talk about ignorant chumps like yourself, who doesnt know FUCK-ALL about policework

My brother has been a cop for about a decade. I did a ride-along with him a couple years ago.

The more obvious issues are abuse of power, a failure to screen out and discipline those who do so, and a naturally confrontational role the police have to play between the haves and the have-nots.

That said, one of the things that I saw in my brother's ride-along is that most of what he does is social work. Every call we had dealt with people who had something clearly fucked up with their lives, their family, or their physical or mental health. Most of his time is spent dealing with victims of life with only a smaller percentage on actual victimizers.

One of his partners, a woman, was ready to beat the crap out of a perp when a call came in that some guy was sexually molesting an underage girl at 8am in a playground... but that was as close as it got to suspicious. (Turns out the girl was 18 but looked 12.)
    Tup

The difference is that meteorologists don't cost people their lives.

I'm not against you, Vinni. You're a good guy, as are many cops. But there's a lot of trash out there dude, and it needs to be exposed.

    Personally, I can't trust officers I don't know.
shall I bring up tornadoes, lol

look, you know it as well as I do, there is good and bad in every profession, so lets just leave it at that, and stop the cop bashing

I woke up one hour ago (5:30AM) because of noises, like someone is getting beaten or tortured, went out to the balcony and saw a girl laying on ground, bleeding and begging for help. I thought someone raped her or she got robbed or something, and at the same time my freakin neighbors all watching her from their balconies like they are watching circus, it freaked me out.. I have no clue what cop number or ambulance number is, tried to search internet, didn't find anything (I guess our government either don't have official website or they name some freaky address which is hard to find). I dialed 3digit random number (it's probably police :D) and asked the ambulance number, called the ambulance, I probably woke him up :sergio: told him that a girl is in pain and bleeding, you know what the idiot told me? to go down there to see if she is ok, or find some guys to help, I started to yell at his face and insulted him and his family, and he asked me my number and name, and I gave it. 15-20 minutes, and no one came, called again, and started to insult the mother fucker and threatened him, and said I know some people that will kick his ass for doing this if he doesn't send it right now, I guess he was scared and was like "sure sir, I will send it right now" and the ambulance arrived in 5 minutes. Can't believe how idiotic these people are :(

Turned out the girl is a maid, from Philippine took her stuff and passport to run (she was probably being treated as a slave), she tried to escape from the balcony put a rob and tried to jump down, she probably fell on her face, her teeth were broken and bleeding.. few minutes later police arrived to investigate..

Two things pissed me out, the ambulance dude and people just watching her suffer and do nothing, and specially her boss.
