They are always linking us with players now, this is strange because we're not a precious english club. They only do it really because Ranieri is our manager so they assume we are always after English based players.

Silva nearly a Juventino

Juventus are reportedly very close to making Valencia winger David Silva their first summer signing, according to the Italian Press.

The Bianconeri have long been admirers of Silva who was a member of the Spain squad that won Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco has announced his intention to bring the 23-year-old to Turin on several occasions.

Valencia are in grave financial trouble and are planning to sell their biggest stars this summer to raise some much needed capital.

Los Che are reportedly in debt to the tune of £450m and have had to postpone the construction of a new stadium.

Valencia want any deal done quickly and are believed to be holding out for £16m, which is said to suit Juventus.

The Turin giants have reportedly set £20m aside to replace the 36-year-old Pavel Nedved, who will retire at the end of the season.

Silva is contracted to Valencia until 2013 and receives a salary of £2.5m, a wage Juventus are confident they can match.

Having suffered an ankle injury at the start of the season, Silva has made just 15 appearances for Los Che in 2008-09.

£16m is a complete joke,im pretty sure Valencia will whore him around for a much bigger offer.Once again £20m set aside for Nedved's replacement? If thats the case Secco better get ready for a alot of dissapointment.

If we are willing to close the deal in a few week's time with an all cash deal, then we can get Silva on the cheap... Valencia need the money and they need it quick..

Thats the logical thing to do but im pretty sure Valencia would rather have him concentrate on the remainder of the season & hope he performs well enough to demand a rather hefty transfer fee.

I read somewhere that they need 75 million Euros by June or something... If thats the case, then they can't wait... Unless of course they sell Villa to ManCity for that amount...

City might be interested but I seriously doubt Villa would agree to that, had they captured Kaka it would be a different case.Thing is we dont really know what the story is & what makes me scepticle about getting Silva on the cheap is that everybody knows that Neddy is retiring. In all honestly Secco should have asked Neddy to keep it a secret & push hard for his replacement.

Whoever we purchase wont come cheap as they know its a neccessity.

£16m if true, is a bargain..
Definitely, and the article suggests Valencia is holding out for £16m. Sound as if Secco can get it cheaper but I highly doubt we can get him much lower than £20m

And what had Valencia done to compound a £450m debt, atrocious ...

i agree. he is a top player who could walk into the starting 11 of any team in the world. He will be great to replace Nedved and can also cover for Camo on the right.

with Silva and Giovinco we will have 2 top attacking mids! :flag:
